Synopsis

In 1950, the residents of a small desert town in southern New Mexico voted to rename themselves after the game show, Truth or Consequences. Like many towns where work is scarce and prospects scarcer, they poured their dreams into the prosperity that might come. Nearly seventy years later, the same hopes are playing out as Spaceport America, the world’s first commercial spaceport, is built just outside of town.

Through a combination of observational and experimental filmmaking, the documentary follows five residents as they navigate what the hope for economic prosperity actually looks like.

Currently in post-production. Generously supported by NYSCA, the Jerome Foundation, the Puffin Foundation and the Women Make Movies Production Assistance Program. Recently participated in the Tribeca Film Institute / Points North Retreat and the Catapult & True/False Rough Cut Retreat.
