- Synopsis
At New York City’s beloved Ukrainian restaurant Veselka, a generational handoff collides with history. As second-generation owner Tom Birchard reluctantly steps aside during the COVID pandemic, his son Jason inherits more than the family business.
When Russia invades Ukraine, Jason is thrust into the unexpected role of surrogate father to employees whose families and homeland are suddenly under attack. In the process, he rediscovers his grandfather’s original purpose for the storefront dating back to 1954: to provide a place of refuge for displaced Ukrainians in the aftermath of war.
