Synopsis

THE ARK is currently in production and filmed in collaboration with Pima County Animal Protection Services and Pima Animal Care Center. The documentary follows animal hoarding investigations as they unfold—from first complaints and repeated visits to search warrants, medical care, and the complex process that follows.

Often reduced to dramatic rescue footage and staggering numbers, animal hoarding is one of the most challenging issues facing animal welfare today. Through intimate, long-term observation of investigators, veterinary staff, shelter workers, and the animals at the center of these cases, THE ARK looks beyond the headlines.

Rather than searching for easy villains or simple solutions, THE ARK examines the human and institutional realities surrounding animal hoarding while asking what rescue truly means once cases are closed.
