Bio
Hannah Engelson is a cinematographer and documentary filmmaker who brings sensitivity and curiosity to her work. She utilizes an observational approach and improvisation while in the field or on set.
Her work as a cinematographer has been screened at festivals, including SXSW, DOC NYC, the Hamptons International Film Festival, and the St. Louis International Film Festival. In addition, her work has been published on Business Insider, FX, Hulu, NBC Universal, Netflix, PBS (American Masters, Great Performances), Sky Documentaries, as well as by clients including Capitol Records, Committee to Protect Journalists, The Empire State Building, Facebook #SheTalksGames, UberEats, and United Airlines.
Her short documentary Jonah Stands Up premiered at the New Orleans Film Festival, where it won both a jury and audience award. The film was broadcast on the World Channel as part of the Reel South Series, premiered online on Short of the Week, and won a student award from the Directors Guild of America.
Hannah was a Graduate Fellow at Emerson College where she earned an MFA in Media Arts.
