Synopsis

Moonrise over Manzanar

Film Synopsis
Yuki Hamada, a fisherman’s wife with two young children and immigrant from Japan, never expected to be forced from her California home into the Manzanar War Relocation Center. As the moon rises over Manzanar, she recounts her experiences living in a world filled with fear, prejudice and desperate hope. Set atop archival footage, Moonrise Over Manzanar tells the story of the Japanese Internment during World War II through a heartfelt and authentic voice that is deeply personal. A collaboration of minds, this film transforms history from dry facts written on pages to a story about real people who should never be forgotten.
