Synopsis

Gay men who came to LA seeking a better life had only a handful of options in the 1980’s- and they mostly were not good ones. Despite coming here to find a safe haven for a community, the dangers that they faced are widely known, AIDS, bigotry, and vilification by society, but what is less known is that they were also preyed upon by members of the community itself. It’s clear that this is a chapter in gay history that hasn’t yet been reckoned with- and we are now in that reckoning. The murder of Bill Newton tells a story of one nightmare which represents others. The film contains interviews with all of the key players in the solving of the murder and in his life.
