- Synopsis
Le note della Terra tells the story of Francesco Mammola, a master mandolinist deeply rooted in the land of Alto Sangro, in Abruzzo. Born in 1989 in Pescocostanzo, he learned to play mandolin as a child from two elderly street musicians, Paolino and Salvatore, after a tragic accident had silenced the town’s beloved choir in the 1950s. Despite rising to international fame, Francesco chose to stay in his remote mountain village, dedicating his life to teaching music and reviving local traditions. In 2018, he founded the Alto Sangro Music Academy, giving new generations the opportunity he never had. Today, over 50 students study there. Mammola is a story of loss and rebirth, where music becomes a bridge between past and future, weaving invisible threads between people, memory, and place.
