Synopsis

Set against a backdrop of social upheaval, the civil rights movement, Woodstock and the war in Vietnam, My Summers of Love is a personal account of a troubled, bi-racial adolescent’s search for identity, community, and acceptance. This quest and connection with an unusual, youth-directed summer camp, introduces us to a unique, life-transforming experience and philosophy. For the storyteller, his peers and for a new generation of fortunate participants, this little-known social revolution continues to reverberate today. Drawing from intimate experiences and the cultural cauldron of the late 1960s up to the present, the film looks back and then ahead at challenges that teens currently face. Even in our turbulent, digital age, My Summers of Love reveals a surprising possibility of transformation and wholeness for youth.
