Shawn Efran is an Emmy- and Peabody-winning producer, director, writer and media entrepreneur. He is the founder of Efran Films, a production company dedicated to creating high-quality unscripted programs for television, the web, cable, broadcast, and theaters. Efran Films’ clients include NBC News, ABC, the Huffington Post, AOL, The Weather Channel, HDNet, Axs TV, Plum TV, Current TV, American Express, and others.
Shawn is the co-director of “The Project,†a 90-minute feature documentary about a troubled mercenary force on a quest to fight Somalia pirates and free hostages. “The Project†premiered as a Spotlight selection at the 2013 TriBeCa Film festival.
Before launching his own company, Efran spent twelve years as a staff producer/writer for CBS’s 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes II, where produced stories in locations from Antarctica to Afghanistan to the Oval Office.
He has been awarded two Emmys, a Peabody, two Society of Professional Journalists awards, an Overseas Press Club award, an Overseas Press Club certificate, a 2013 Communicator award, and is a 2013 Webby Honoree.
