Michael Mulcahy is an Arizona-based producer, writer and director. He is currently making two films: the first is a half-hour documentary about a couple who married, divorced, then re-married each other; the couple is his elderly parents, David and Lois. The second film is a 10-minute dramatic fiction short about one bad night in the life of Peter Berg, erstwhile father, husband and drunk.
His documentary, CORRECTION, deals with the Arizona state prison system and the people who work as guards within it. Funded with grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through ITVS (Independent Television Service) and the Arizona Humanities Council and the University of Arizona, Correction aired nationally on PBS.
Mulcahy is an associate professor in the School of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of Arizona. The recipient of several University teaching awards, he teaches courses in aesthetics, cinematography, sound design and short film production.
