Michael Cain is an award-winning producer, director, and nonprofit leader whose work spans feature films, documentary series, commercial production, music videos, film festivals, and mission-driven media. A recipient of an MFA from the American Film Institute (AFI) and a commencement speaker for the institution, he has produced or executive produced more than 25 feature-length films, 30 commercials, and dozens of music videos—many recognized for their artistic and social impact.

Michael’s directorial debut premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize. The film was later included in HBO’s acclaimed *Addiction* series.

Committed to using the arts to create meaningful change, Michael founded the nonprofit Arts Fighting Cancer (AFC), which raised funds for cancer relief through initiatives including the Deep Ellum Film Festival (DE/F2), Lone Star Drive-In, and the Santa Monica Drive-In at the Pier. He also served as Founding Artistic Director, CEO, Chairman of the Board, and President of the Dallas Film Society, the organization behind the Dallas International Film Festival—formerly AFI DALLAS—recognized among North America’s leading film festivals.

In 2017, Michael co-founded EarthxFilm with Trammell Crow as part of EarthX, one of the world’s largest environmental expos, conferences, and film festivals. Between 2017 and 2022, he helped launch EarthXR, EarthxEDU, and EarthX TV, expanding the organization’s environmental storytelling, education, and media platforms.

Most recently, Michael executive produced "BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey", a docu-series available on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Plex; "UNEARTH", Hunter Nolan’s debut feature and the Jackson Wild Award-winning documentary. also "MELODY MAIDS" and "GLADICE", which premiered at Mountainfilm in 2026.
