Julie Kirkenslager is an archaeologist turned filmmaker. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Anthropology, Julie worked as an archaeologist for several years. She was interested in using oral history as a tool to compliment the material culture she was discovering. Julie co-created Patina Films as a way to document the archaeological process and bring it to the public. Her first documenatry, Buried Stories, tells the story of a Native American woman and her struggle to face her time spent at a Indian Boarding School and explores her life as an activist.
