I am Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Communication at St. John Fisher College. I have studied how social media and gaming influence parenting practices and the pedagogical uses of technology in communication courses, and now focus on coding and pedagogy as well as social media and politics. I have published articles and essays in Journal of Gaming & Virtual Worlds, Journalism & Mass Communication Educator, Journal of Interactive Learning Research, the International Journal of Learning and Media, and In Media Res and have published previous chapters on Doctor Who mashup videos, Facebook profile pictures, and learning management systems and open-source philosophies.

I have recently taken up documentary filmmaking, with my first film Active Voices making the rounds at festivals and a second film on net neutrality being edited in summer 2020.
