Bio
Joan Gamero is a director and screenwriter from Barcelona. A photographer and cameraman by vocation, he began filming with an 8mm camera, He studied cinema at the Escola d’Estudis Artístics de L’Hospitalet (Barcelona) and worked as an assistant director on several feature films. He worked as a film director for the Public TV in Spain (TVE), where the series “Prisma”, which he conceived and directed, and the feature documentary “Vivir la utopía” (Living Utopia) stand out. Two of his short fiction films and several documentaries have been screened at the Berlinale, San Sebastián, Cinespaña (Toulouse), Edmonton INPUT’90, the Barcelona '92 Olympic Games, Sevilla Expo '92 and Centre Pompidou (Paris). Passionate about documentaries, he prefers to film and edit his own projects whenever possible. His most recent works are the award-winnings feature documentaries “The Karamazoffs, a walk on the SoHo years,”, “El Petit Peó/The Little Pawn” and “Guerrillero.”
