Bio
Mehran Haghighi began his career in 1991 by co-founding Behnegar, an Iranian production and distribution company. While at Behnegar, he produced several fiction, documentary, and short films, some of which were co-produced with filmmakers from France, Japan, Tunisia, and Germany. Five of the thirteen films he has worked on have been recognized with international awards.
He was the co-producer of Djomeh, the recipient of the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2000, and Bab’Aziz: The Prince That Contemplated His Soul, which received the Best Feature Film award at the Muscat International Film Festival.
In 2016, Mehran established Homa Films, an independent company dedicated to producing films that showcase the depth and richness of Iranian history, art, and culture. His most recent project, Performing Beauty | سماع قلم, marks his directorial debut—a feature documentary on Persian calligraphy that blends visual aesthetics with cultural reflection.
Through Homa Films, Haghighi continues to champion works that foster cross-cultural dialogue and bring overlooked narratives to international attention.
