40 plus years as an award winning director-writer of documentary and non-fiction, often DP, in locations across America and around the world for outlets including BBC2, Channel4UK, PBS, Discovery, NatGeo, NYTimes, Time Magazine and others. International work includes films in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, South Sudan, Syria among others. Among more than 100 titles are "A Mississippi Story", "Rosie", "Afghanistan: Defying Silence", "Return of the Taliban?", "Iraq's Lost Generation", Louis Theroux's "Survivalists", "Wrestlers" , "Lucky Strike:Lightning", "Hunt for the Killer Virus","Vasila's Heart" and "Vasila's Journey", "The LRA is Hunting Children in South Sudan".

For 12 years until recently, taught at the Columbia U. Graduate School of Journalism, on storytelling and skills needed to be a "one-person-band" . Taught intensive workshop in Shanghai, China.
