I'm an environmental journalist based in NYC, and began moving into documentary filmmaking in 2025. My career in online news goes back to the late 1990s, when I was an environmental news producer for OregonLive, the website of The Oregonian.

I work currently as an editor at DeSmog.com, a climate investigations site. (I mention this affiliation for identification purposes only.) I've been an editor at The Conversation and Drilled, and reported for many news and features publications. In the mid-2010s I was a staff associate editor for environment and wildlife at Participant Media's TakePart.com.

I am a co-founder and board member of Women Do News, a project dedicated to increasing the quantity and improving the quality of pages about women journalists on Wikipedia; and a past board member of the Society of Environmental Journalists.

I've co-authored, with Patrick Di Justo, two books about DIY environmental monitoring, for Make/O'Reilly Media: Environmental Monitoring With Arduino and Atmospheric Monitoring With Arduino.
