Bio

Elika Rezaee is an Award-winning LA-based film editor and director with experience in fiction and non-fiction filmmaking. Originally from Iran, Elika left her homeland to pursue her dreams in Cinema at the prestigious American Film Institute's editing program. Ever since, she has edited over ten feature films that have premiered at top-tier festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW and aired on PBS. Her edited films are available on streaming services like Amazon, Vudu, and AppleTV.

She recently edited “Shayda,” a fictive feature film about a young Iranian mother and her six-year-old daughter who find refuge in an Australian women's shelter during the two weeks of the Iranian New Year. “Shayda” won the audience award at Sundance 2023 and solidified Elika's reputation as an esteemed film editor.

Other recent credits include “Notes,” a narrative film she edited at the end of its post-production process. This film was the last film that Halyna Hutchins shot. “Notes” is about a lonely piano prodigy forced to defer college to train for a piano competition in Europe, where she finds the costs of balancing art, friendship, love, and duty may be deeper than she thought. “La Sandinista”, a feature documentary, uncovers a watershed moment in history when a group of Nicaraguan women shattered barriers to lead rebel troops in battle and reshape their country. This film received the Jury Prize from SXSW and won the São Paulo International Film Festival, Audience Award & New Directors Competition at the Washington DC Film Festival, Justice Matters Award, and ITVS grant.

Her other notable achievements include editing the short documentaries "Conducting The Revolution" and "Lot 448", both of which were collaborative works between Tribeca and Bvlgari and “Jews Step Forward” a feature documentary that won Best Human Rights, War & Peace Documentary Feature Award and Winner Award of Merit, Best Documentary Feature from Mexico International Film Festival.

Elika is thrilled to have been accepted to the highly esteemed Karen Schmeer Editing Fellowship, where she will have the chance to work with some of the industry's most influential professionals and gain invaluable editing experience.

Also, as a writer and director, Elika has just won the best short film at New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2023, and Remi Award from Houston Film Festival for “Fereshteh” and made it as a finalist at the Amarcort Film Festival, and the Norwegian Short Film Festival.
