Bio
Sara Dosa is an award-winning nonfiction director and producer whose work primarily focuses on the human relationship with non-human nature. Dosa's most recent doc, an archival collage film entitled FIRE OF LOVE about pioneering French volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, premiered in Competition at Sundance 2022 where it won the Jonathan Oppenheim editing award and was acquired by National Geographic Films. FIRE OF LOVE will open theatrically in July 2022. Dosa's previous directing work, THE SEER & THE UNSEEN (Utopia Distribution, 2019) and THE LAST SEASON (PBS 2015) have won awards at festivals worldwide and the latter was nominated for an Indie Spirit Truer Than Fiction Award in 2015. Her producing credits include the Peabody Awardwinning AUDRIE & DAISY (Netflix 2016), the Peabody and Emmy nominated SURVIVORS (POV 2018). Dosa co-produced the Academy Award Nominated THE EDGE OF DEMOCRACY in 2019. In 2018, Dosa was named to DOCNYC's inaugural class of "40 Under 40" and was inducted into the Academy Doc Branch. She lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
