Bio
JR Heffelfinger is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and producer with over 15 years of experience specializing in broadcast and digital content. He has developed and produced original content for clients such as Facebook, Disney and IAC. He has directed and produced documentaries for Al Jazeera America, Avenues The World School and foundations Hope to Haiti and the Aids Resource Foundation for Children. He started his career with an internship in story-development at Spike Lee’s 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks and graduating from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Film & TV. JR then wrote and directed his debut feature film in Tokyo, Japan Niji No Shita Ni which had it's world premiere at the 28th Mill Valley Film Festival. He went on to become a director and producer for Howcast Media where his work has amassed over 250 Million views across Hulu, Amazon and Youtube to date, garnering him a Webby Award in 2013. He is the founder of Runaway Horses which is a story-driven production company that connects people, brands, causes and culture, with a focused passion for unveiling truths about the human condition, giving voice to the voiceless and making the invisible visible.
