River Finlay’s 2015 short documentary Luchadora delves into the life of Mexican professional Lucha Libre wrestler Luna Mágica. The film has screened at dozens of festivals in 2015 including Sheffield Doc/Fest and won several awards including Best Documentary Short at Cinequest, The Lower East Side Film Festival, Santa Fe Independent Film Festival and is an award winner in the Short Documentary Category at the Heartland Film Festival. Luchadora is also a 2015 CINE Golden Eagle Finalist for Independent Media.  Before becoming a filmmaker, River spent many years working in Latin America as a public health expert. She is also an independent director and producer, where she combines the worlds of international health with film for clients such as The World Bank, Planned Parenthood and Discovery Communications. River has a master’s in public health from Columbia University and a master’s in film and video from American University.
