Nicole Karsin produced, directed, and co-wrote the feature documentary We Women Warriors (Tejiendo Sabudría) that follows three native women in rural Colombia trapped by the decades-long armed conflict who use nonviolence and female leadership to defend themselves and their people. The film premiered in 2012, screened at nearly 40 festivals, was nominated for a 2013 best doc Imagen Award, and won awards at four festivals.
Karsin has worked in Latin America for 20 years as a journalist, human rights activist, and documentarian. In 2007, she formed Todos Los Pueblos Productions to move audiences to action through artful, character-driven films about global struggles for human rights and dignity. She was a fellow at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers’ Latino Producers Academy & Film Independent’s Documentary Lab in 2011. Karsin holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
