The first job I had on a film set was on Rick Schmidt’s independent feature “American Orpheus.” I started out working on the crew and ended up acting in the film as well. It was my first and last on-screen role. I much prefer working behind the camera, collaborating with the director to bring characters and stories to life. Since working on Rick’s film, I have made my own films which have screened in festivals internationally. One film, Notes on Liberty was selected as one of 30 films in the 2010 American Documentary Showcase sponsored by The U. S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. I traveled with a delegation to Poland to present the film along with other independently produced documentaries. Recently, I was awarded a Fulbright Artist-in-Residence Scholarship at Museums Quartier/Q21 in Vienna, Austria. I will spend two-months there in 2017 filming an adaptation of Viennese writer Arthur Schnitzler's poem"Der Abschied" ("The Farewell").Since 2013, I have curated the Upstate Shorts screenings as a part of the annual Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in Ithaca, NY. I have Master of Fine Arts program in Film and Video Production at the University of Iowa Department of Communication and am working at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where I edit films on conservation and science.
