Bio

Born in Tokyo, Japan, and raised in Hokkaido, Japan.

Graduated from Political science and Law Studies at Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo.

Haruna is a director, producer, and filmmaker living in New York City. 

She has directed and produced a short documentary film, music video, and advertising campaigns. She has also produced feature documentary films, short narrative films, documentaries, and TV commercial films. Haruna worked as a producer at Dentsu Creative X inc in Tokyo from 2011 to 2016. She left for New York in 2016.

In 2014, a short documentary film “UBUGOE” she produced was awarded and nominated by international award competitions such as CLIO Award, ADFEST, and JAAP International Short Film Festival, among others.

In 2021, a feature documentary film "Born Balearic: Jon Sa Trinxa and the Spirit of Ibiza" she produced was distributed at 12 movie theaters in Japan. It was awarded by Indie Memphis Film Festival as the Best Sounds Feature, nominated by NewFilmmakers NY, Madrid International Film Festival, and more. 

Her first directed short documentary film, "EKIDEN", premiered at the 45th Asian American International Film Festival 2022. 

Currently, Haruna co-directed a music video for a jazz pianist and composer, Martha Kato. She's also working as a producer on a feature documentary film "The Sound of Hope", and as a director, producer and planner on various videos in NYC.
