Bio

Fran Sterling has worked in education for over 25 years - in classrooms and with schools, cultural institutions and as a leader in the non-profit sector - developing resources, training educators in workshops and seminars and facilitating community conversations. As Co-Founder and principal partner in Blueshift, Fran's passion for issues of justice and commitment to education are joined to leverage social impact documentary media across platforms and with communities for deep and lasting change.

Fran spent a decade as a classroom teacher before working with the international education non-profit Facing History and Ourselves for the past 15 years, most recently as Senior Associate for Research and Development for the national organization. Fran is a skilled and creative strategic thinker creating partnerships and implementing programs with leading institutions and organizations across the country. When she is not working on new projects, Fran serves on several local boards, enjoys spending time playing in Colorado’s mountains skiing, climbing and camping with her husband and three children.

Fran holds a Bachelor's Degree in Politics from Mount Holyoke College, a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Colorado, a diploma in Jewish Studies from the Oxford Center for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and has completed her PhD coursework in Cultural Studies and History from Claremont Graduate School.
