Diane Tober--Producer and Director, The Perfect Donor--received her doctorate in Medical Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. She has conducted extensive research in topics related to bioethics, reproductive technologies and the body, in both the United States and the Middle East. Her research includes work on the sperm-banking industry, investigating issues surrounding access to reproductive technologies and how lay perceptions of genetics influence donor choice; kidney sales in Islamic Republic of Iran; and the politics of family planning promotion and use among Afghan refugees and low-income Iranians in Iran. She has published in scholarly journals and popular media, and been interviewed on television, radio and in print outlets. In addition to this documentary, she also Produced, Directed, and Edited Bracing for Life, With GNE Myopathy, a film about a rare genetic disease and the challenges facing people who have it. Diane is also conducting research on egg provider decisions and experiences at University of California, San Francisco, where she serves as Assistant Adjunct Professor.
