Bio
Ammar Aziz (1989, Lahore) was led into filmmaking through his passion for literature and music. Graduated from Pakistan’s primary art institute – National College of Arts – with distinction in film studies, he has been expressing in various mediums. While making several short documentaries about the labor struggles in Pakistan, he has been closely affiliated with the leftist movement in the country. His debut feature documentary A WALNUT TREE had its world premiere and was in competition for first appearance at IDFA, 2015 and had its North American premiere at Hot Docs, 2016. The film later won the Best Film Awards from Moscow International Documentary Film Festival, FIlm Southasia (Nepal) , Sole Luna Documentary Festival (Italy) and FIPRESCI Award from Documentarist, Istanbul among other awards. He lives amd works in Pakistan.
