Selling my lens Sigma 17-50 2.8 Nikon Mount (ALMOST NEW).

BH Photo sells it new for $669, I am selling it after only two shoots for almost $200 less, only $499. The lens was always used with the UV filter on. Includes original box, fabric case, instructions, uv filter, lens cap, and lens hood.

I was using this for video with the Sony FS-100, but it would work great with Sony F3, Panasonic Af100, Canon C300 and all Nikon photo cameras and DSLRS.

“The Other Side of the Rainbow” shows what it means to be gay, lesbian or transgender today in Berlin by portraying four individuals, who are in some way or another part of Berlin’s LGBT community, but won’t quiet fit in into the usual clichés: 22-year-old free spirit Isabelle, gay punk Nico, transgender writer and performer Jayrome and, the handicapped Mark. A parallel fifth storyline tells the background of Berlin’s gay pride and the development from on to two different parades on the same day in the city.

PALEYDOCFEST2012 Documentary Pitch Workshop

The PALEYDOCFEST2012 Pitch Workshop – deadline for entries August 15th 2012

Earlybird deadline August 1!

New York, NY—The Paley Center for Media today announced a call for entries for its celebrated Art of the Documentary Pitch Workshop at PALEYDOCFEST2012, which will be held at the Paley Center in New York on Saturday, October 20, 2012. In this workshop/competition—now in its ninth year—a panel of documentary executives and producers discuss the process of developing a documentary and will hear and evaluate pitches from five preselected up-and-coming filmmakers who are hoping to sell either a nonfiction concept or a documentary work-in-progress. The winner of the pitch competition in October will receive a $5,000 grant to be used towards the completion of their project.

This call for entries is to be selected as one of the five filmmakers who will participate in the workshop in October.

Documentary: License to Pimp

Film Description: License to Pimp is a feature documentary about the choices that three San Francisco strippers make as their workplaces engage in illegal labor practices. Strip clubs refuse to pay strippers even minimum wages & actually charge them for the privilege to work. The filmmaker worked in San Francisco’s strip clubs and witnessed how co-workers felt economically pressured to engage in prostitution to make their quotas to avoid being fired. Now as a filmmaker, she uncovers current working conditions to find out how strip clubs are able to operate outside the law.

Experience: None. The candidate should be eager to learn about documentary filmmaking and film/video post-production.

Duration of Internship: (August/Sept 2012 to Jan. 2013) Begins immediately. Minimum 3 months

Payment: No pay. Credit for college is OK. You will be credited on this film.

Duties: We are an independent film production company that seeks qualified, smart, energetic Interns wanting experience in documentary film post-production. You must have a sense of humor, positive attitude, & a desire to delve deeper into social justice issues that impact women/girls, sex workers, laborers, queer people, & people of color.

Position will be supporting an independent filmmaker + Editor with day to day activities.

Required: You MUST have your own laptop computer with MS Word + a DVD player. Ideally, Final Cut Pro editing experience (version 7). You must be able to work independently, multi-task by managing multiple tasks, & prioritize workload as needed. If you have PC laptop, you will transcribe interviews.

Responsibilities:
• Transcribe documentary interviews
• Log documentary footage in Filemaker or Excel
• Assist with research and licensing of archival photographs, music, and footage
• Editing assistance
• Database entry and management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Skills: Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, Excel, Filemaker, &/or Photoshop

Time Commitment: 2 to 3 days per week from 10am to 6pm. Minimum 12 to 18 hours/wk (Mon. thru Fri only). Flexible time schedule

These two quotes from the above want ad have interesting parallels. But I guess this isn't the right forum to make any comment about unpaid internships.

We are seeking MARKETING / OUTREACH INTERNS to help with the theatrical release of our new documentary film RADIO UNNAMEABLE about legendary freeform radio DJ Bob Fass and his long running late night program on WBAI. http://www.radiounnameablemovie.com The film is having a small independent release starting at the Film Forum in New York in mid September then moving on to other theaters across the country.

We are looking for interns with interest in PR, Grassroots Marketing and Digital Social Media Outreach. We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative go-getters, who can think outside of the box and take on projects and run with them.
