I'm looking for an editing/overall assistant to work with me in developing my new in-the-works wedding documentary. The ideal candidate has good knowledge of FCP and all things technical, and is extremely (bordering on obsessively) well organized. Brownie points for being a fast learner and fearless self-starter.
Position has fairly flexible days, but requires commitment of 2-3 days per week.
Our office is located in Dumbo, Brooklyn. This is an unpaid position to start with, save for a daily travel and meal stipend. Hopefully will become paid, in time, as we're trying to raise funding. My films (the latest being The Kids Grow Up and 51 Birch Street ) have been co-produced with broadcasters like HBO, ZDF/Arte and Channel Four and have shown both theatrically and on television throughout the world.
Furthermore, we're a small company and you'll be working directly with me, which previous assistants (at least those who've learned the art of sucking up) say is a priceless experience. For anyone with the ambition to learn documentary directing and producing from the inside, this can be like a one person film school.
To apply, please send me an email telling a bit about who you are, your film experience and what you hope to learn from working on the film: doug (at) d-word (dot) com. Thanks!
