Docs In Progress is now in its seventh year of presenting documentary work-in-progress screenings to the public as a means for filmmakers to get feedback from a general audience. This honest and constructive feedback is aimed at helping the filmmakers get to the next stage of completing and distributing the film.
We are excited to be returning to Washington DC next Friday, June 3 for a program sponsored by our longest-running sponsor, The Documentary Center at the George Washington University. We welcome both filmmakers and non-filmmakers alike to join us to watch and critique the films.
WHAT'S SCREENING?
73 CENTS by Ben Crosbie (15 minute rough cut)
Five days after her husband passed away from cancer, Regina Holliday took up her paint brushes and began a crusade to change the American health-care system, using art as her vehicle for advocacy.
THE LIST by Beth Murphy (82 minute rough cut)
After leading reconstruction teams for the U.S. government in Iraq, Kirk Johnson returns home only to discover that his Iraqi friends and colleagues are being killed, kidnapped or forced into exile by radical militias... all because they worked for the United States trying to help rebuild their country. Stunned by fear-mongering and stagnating bureaucracy that prevents these Iraqis from being rescued, Kirk begins compiling a list of these allies and, one by one, helps them find refuge and a new life in America.
