Bill Bartlett founded the Imagine Project, Inc., in 1992 to work with youth from low-income families in the New York City metropolitan area. Our mission is to ensure that at risk children are given the chance to develop a sense of fulfillment, courage and direction through self-expression in our creative and performing arts workshops, allowing them to emerge as innovative, successful and productive adults.
The youth in our target population face tremendous internal and external challenges such as low self-esteem, difficult family situations, substance abuse, and exposure to community and media violence. Our programs are designed to counteract these obstacles by giving children the tools they require to build a strong sense of character and self worth, instilling within them the courage to make sound life choices. Since our inception, we have worked in over one hundred homeless shelters, schools, and community centers offering scores of children the opportunity to experiment with their own expressive abilities without fear of failure.
