Niya Veleva Pro

Niya Veleva is a 26-year-old film director based in Sofia, Bulgaria, working primarily in documentary cinema. She works as a freelance film director, but is also part of BYWAYS production company as a documentary filmmaker.

Her films move across different subjects, yet are united by a desire to create social and emotional impact. She is drawn to intimate human stories - from community-driven initiatives and social care to personal journeys of identity and memory.

Alongside her documentary work, she creates short visual films inspired by the places she has travelled to - quiet observations shaped like visual poems. Her visual language is defined by carefully composed frames, soft natural light, and pastel tones, through which she explores contrast and emotional nuance.
