The One And All is an experimental piece that explores the absurd situation that now everything in "America" means the same thing: shopping is an act of national solidarity; traveling to Disney World is an act of patriotism; flying on a plane is also a patriotic act; unquestioning support of the war effort is a patriotic act, etc. etc. etc. The consequences of this situation are explored: what leeway is granted our leaders by this patriotic unity in conducting the war abroad and on the "homeland" front? How does it affect the effort to espouse "tolerance" toward Arabs and Muslims in this country? At what cost to the Third World does such First World patriotism come?
