I see that you're living in a Camphill community! We have worked with biodynamic beekeepers and the camphill and waldorf communities have been incredible to get to know more. Are you familiar with the Center for Discovery in the US? They do a lot of farm-based work with the disabled.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this and I have no experience in filming/producing any kind of work. I am currently training for a bike trip across the country which will begin late next month. My good friend and I will be raising money for a charity in the process. I would love to film this and create a documentary to show an audience what it's like to travel across the country (NY to LA) with just your bike and a few things. We will have no support vehicle which will make this trip a bit more interesting. I was going to create a project on Kickstarter until it asked me for a goal. Like I said before, I have no experience in this but I think it's an amazing idea. We have a website and that's where we've started. If anyone knows where I should begin or recommends I do anything, PLEASE, feel free to reply. Any advice is greatly appreciated. We really hope this happens. We just want to show people that anything is possible, promote healthy living and raise some money for a charity in the process. Traveling for a cause. Thank you and much love to all.

Since you are riding without support you need a very small set up. I recording cycling with a gopro, and would think that is your lightest/easiest/cheapest camera choice. Do you plan on bringing a laptop?

Fund raising for something like this is whole other story that I can't help as much with.

I have never done anything like what you are trying to attempt. So I got no idea about the GPS. I would say, it will be very hard to carry enough SD cards without the ability to dump them onto a hard drive. You can always reach out to the news, but I would think FB would be the best way to build an audience for your ride. http://www.facebook.com/pianoacrossamerica Take a lot at this FB page for a guy who drove around america with a piano for inspiration.

My son and his mates did a similar in the UK 2 years ago. Lucky them had padre along to shoot. They made quite a bit of money hitting tourist buses arriving in rest stops, especially when the camera was recording the hit.

Hi there,
I'm finally getting around to introducing myself. Why? Because I need something!! Could I pick your wise and experienced brains?

I'm currently onlining my documentary, FELIX AUSTRIA!. At this very late point in the game, my experienced music composer raised a red flag and said that my credits don't look like the other credits he's scored – - it seems to him like they're missing a lot of the legal jargon.

Could someone speak with me about what I may be missing? I'm pretty sure my composer has only worked on films that have been pre-sold and have bigger backing with specific credits required, but I need to make sure I'm on the up and up here.

Finding Mabel is a gripping documentary that follows a young woman's journey to Argentina, to piece together the enigmatic disappearance of the woman she was named after, one of the 30,000 people who disappeared during Argentina's last military dictatorship. Hello to all Documentary filmmakers, artist, and enthusiast!

I'm Raymund Cruz from the Philippines, a country that has over 150 different languages (from indigenous to foreign types). Speaking of languages, I am glad to be part of the d-word community. Despite the variety of artist speaking different dialects, this website has enabled us to all communicate through what we all love, and that is DOCUMENTARY.

Well for me, I am a filmmaker in my free time. It is an intense hobby, since in it was my full time occupation during my previous career. Now starting over, I currently work in a Design and Construction firm in charge of renovating Casinos and Hotels. It's difficult to support a future family as well while stubbornly struggling to create works that is for personal reasons. However eventually, me and my wife plan to do such attempts abroad.

As for experience in films, I had held different parts of production in narratives, television shows, and documentaries. This ranged from directing, producing, screenwriting, editing, production design, and cinematography. My real interest however is the documentary genre. So I plan to actively pursue it, for it has the most powerful effect on people and the ability to reform them.

As a team, me and my wife are about to launch a production company as our stress reliever from the real world. Here, we will create short films, documentaries, and theater performances that are used to express ourselves through different subjects. Some plans are in the works, while the more ambitious projects will need to wait. One of the plans is to create a drama therapy for various people.

So there goes a long introduction. Hope to collaborate and learn from this useful website.

With my company Somewhere, I work in close collaboration with my co-producer and co-director Nina Pope, based in our London studio. Our feature docs include: ‘Jaywick Escapes’ (2012) which premieres this summer, 'Living with the Tudors' (2007) and 'Bata-ville: We are not afraid of the future' (2005).

I'm currently in my junior year and I'm pursuing a major in Media Communication Technology with a concentration in video production. After graduation, i plan to get a job with a documentary company.
