Matt – no need to double post at the D-Word; such is the nature of our site we see all the Topics.

Thanks John! I saw "Introduce yourself" again and thought whaa?
Just to trip you up, Matt ;-) Welcome to The D-Word. Always nice to have another festival head on board here.
Hello everyone. I'm a videographer/editor. My professional background involves shooting/editing footage of George Lucas for the behind-the-scenes docs for the Star Wars franchise at Lucasfilm Ltd. for 2 years, and then shortly after that I worked for a small division of FOX producing similar behind-the-scenes and news content for the videogame industry at IGN Entertainment (ign.com). I recently finished my first feature-length documentary, Rabbit Fever (www.rabbitfever.com). I'm so glad to have found this forum!
Welcome, Amy. Congrats on finishing your doc. Feel free to register for full membership here, which will give you access to all the discussion topics (50, as opposed to 5).
Hi all – I just finished working as production coordinator on Participant Media's doc "Countdown to Zero" and looking to connect with more fellow doc filmmakers. After going to Sundance this year, i was VERY impressed with the quality of docs being produced these days (and proud to contribute to it in my own small way). I'm also a DP, and recently shot a feature doc about the effects of music programs on academic achievement in the LA public schools. I look forward to participating in the discussions here and learning/sharing more.
Hi everyone- Film is a second career, and though I've been working at it for ten years – still have LOTS to learn!! I just finished the short "Only One Boss" which will premier at Aspen Shortsfest in April. I co-produced "At Home in Utopia" which was broadcast on INdependent Lens on PBS in 2009 and I co-directed "Dental Farmer" which played at Black Maria Film Festival and Chlotrudis and others in 2001. I am looking for a distributor for "Only One Boss" a nine-minute film about relationships and power sharing. It stars a couple of kids who fight and make up and fight again at ages 2, 3, and 12. I would love to meet others who make short films. Glad the D-word is here.
And we're glad to have you here, Ellen. Welcome aboard and good luck with your short.
Hello everyone or as the Rolling Stones would put it: "Please allow me to introduce myself..." :)
I am the new Online Editor at reelisor.com, the MEDIA sponsored social networking site for European documentary professionals – that is represented at the D-Word with its own reelisor topic -> http://www.d-word.com/topics/show/151-reelisor?read=new
I'm looking forward to getting in touch with all the reelisor users as well as other documentary film professionals!
Welcome to The D-Word, Steve. There is an even easier way to link to another Topic – click on the blue link "Help with Formatting" to the bottom right of the window where you type and you can scroll down a list of all possible Topics including reelisor
You also should sign up as a Full Member of The D-Word
Thanks for the advise. :)
I'm just starting to check out all the opportunities the D-Word offers.
I especially like the approach not to divide discussions into too many different threads, but to present them in on steady stream of posts. That feels more natural, like a personal talk.
Hello I heard about this site from one of my professors. I figured I would check it out. Hope to learn a lot! Thanks!
Just an update on the Docummunity project I mentioned here about a year ago – well it now has a blog that talks about collaborative media and documentary with the hope of building a small but dedicated group of filmmakers who are interested in the idea of a collaborative documentary. The link is http://docummunity.wordpress.com/ comments about anything and everything are welcomed!!
Welcome, Lindsey and welcome back, Jeremy. Helpful stuff on your blog, well done.
Hey all! I was just at the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival and every conversation was d-word this and d-word that. I thought people were trying to talk about something without letting me know what it was, The 'D' Word... Over the course of the weekend I figured it out though, and my paranoia passed.
welcome, dustin! really enjoyed your film (PRAYERS FOR PEACE) at the Sebastopol Film Fest. beautifully animated, simply narrated, with a powerfully emotional ending. jury award well deserved!
(btw, make sure you apply for full membership with the D-Word so that you get access to all the other topics...)
So Dustin joined the cult ;) Yipeee! Loved your film too. Absolutely beautiful. You should put info on it up on the films page here.
Welcome, Dustin. By all means apply for full membership here . Then we dance in a circle and suck your blood.
Dustin, great to see you here. You will be talking mysteriously about the D-word soon enough too.
Dustin – I'm looking forward to seeing more of your animation and keeping in touch via D-Word
Hey Dustin, good to see you in D-Word and glad to see your film is continuing its festival run. Congrats on another well-deserved award.
Hi everyone! I'm very excited to finally be a member of The D-Word. I've made 2 documentary features to date, "Orthodox Stance" (2008) & "Breezewood, Pennsylvania" (2004), and am in production on a third film. I'm looking forward to interacting with this inspired and talented community of filmmakers!
Glad to have you here, Jason. Finally. We've had people working on you for years now ;-)
Hello! I am a documentary Editor (who also does Assistant Editor work) recently finished work as an AE on the documentary 'Countdown to Zero'. Our team was lucky enough to have the film play at this year's Sundance Festival. I was very excited by the documentaries I was able to catch at the festival!
I'm looking forward to joining a community of other documentary professionals!!
