Hello everyone! My name is Sara, I am an undergraduate student in California. I have done some short film pieces and audio pieces before in the past, and now I'm working on my first feature film. I look forward to "meeting" each of you!

Hello to all. I've actually been a member of this forum for a number of years, although I've never posted (feels like I'm taking a very big step right now..) I do want to congratulate you on creating such a wonderful space – I find it an incredibly useful resource for all things technical, but most importantly motivational. Doc filmmaking gets a bit lonely at times and it's nice to know there's a whole lot of people out there who've been down that road..

I've been working on a project called Cinema Komunisto for a couple of years now (it's been a long and interrupted development and shooting process), and have finally reached the editing stage, so I've re-located temporarily to Los Angeles for the edit. Would love to meet fellow documentary filmmakers in a town that doesn't seem to have much time for that world...

Hi I'm Jeremy, I'm embarking a new project that might interest some of you – it's called Docummunity and is trying to be the first feature length documentary that's been created entirely from user generated content.

I'm so excited I found this place. It looks like a wonderful community. I'm a documentary filmmaker and I live in LA. My first feature just won the Jury Award for Best Documentary at Japan Film Festival last week. It's a documentary on Japanese whaling: http://www.kujirathemovie.com .

Hey doc friends,

I'm a documentary film editor based in Cologne, Germany.
Currently I edit my first feature length documentary "Tribes of Cologne" which is an ethnographic film about people who dress and live like Huns and Mongolians in Cologne (http://www.58filme.de/projekte/projekt_13.html). (Sorry, the site is in German only)

Having studied documentary film in Italy and having worked in Denmark I very much appreciate getting in contact with you from allover the world.

Hey Julia, this project sounds hilarious. I live in Munich (theoretically) but have grown into a big fan of the Cologne carnival. Is there any overlap between the Tribes of Cologne and the carnival?

Actually the Tribes of Cologne do have their origin in the Cologne carnival, they started up as carnival associations in the 50s. They also hold summer camps in parks which for them is even more important than carnival.

Hey John, Great to meet you. I came to make KUJIRA because I thought the whaling controversy was very complex and interesting but had only seen very one-sided presentations of it. I thought it'd be interesting to go into it with no bias and see what people had to say.

I thought I'd formally introduce myself, even though I already know many of you through the doc community.

First my confession: I joined D-Word a few years back, but guiltily never really got that involved. Instead, my childhood friend and the director of the first film I produced "Miss GULAG" (Maria Yatskova) held the D-Word reins for both of us. Anyways, this time around – I plan to get more active!

So my intro: I produced Miss GULAG (www.MissGULAG.com) while working a full-time job in management consulting (advising Fortune 100 companies on their business strategies). I realized I couldn't do both jobs without losing my mind, so after 7 years in business, I left it for the more lucrative world of documentary film (yes, that's a joke – the "lucrative" part, that is). Anyways, since the transition, I've been working on a personal documentary about my family (that is currently on hiatus) and more officially, I'm the Executive Director of a weekly NY documentary screening series called Stranger Than Fiction (http://STFdocs.com – we actually just got a topic on D-Word – see http://www.d-word.com/topics/show/156?read=new).
