Hi, my name is Michael Oved Dayan. I’ve spent several years working on, High Plains Doctor: Healing on the Tibetan Plateau, a documentary about the Chief Medical Officer of Nunavut on his annual medical mission to a small village in Eastern Tibet (just before the village was at the epicenter of a 6.9 earthquake). The main subject of my film is charismatic and insightful and working on this film has been transformational for me. I just completed a trailer for the film and posted it to my page on youtube (link below). This is my second one and producing it took more than I originally expected. I’m writing to introduce myself, and to mention that I’m going to start submitting the film to festivals and I’m very open to suggestions from other members of D-Word. I look forward to meeting some of you at festivals and in other doc related capacities. Thanks.

Hi, my name is Lise Zumwalt. I am a doc producer/director/writer and am currently working on an indie doc feature on mental health. I have spent many years producing commercial docs but this is my mission! I wanted to introduce myself and also say I am looking for camera people in San Francisco and Madison, Wisconsin that could do some half day shooting for me in exchange for services or for something you might need in NY! I am also an Avid editor. If interested please contact me at wishzoomataoldotcom.

Welcome, Lise. You might want to post a notice on both our public and members-only classifieds pages with your barter offer (the only topics we encourage double-posting on).

Hi- I'm directing and producing my first feature documentary, "The Long Bike Back", which is currently at the rough cut stage. "The Long Bike Back" follows the recovery of a bicyclist (my partner) from a crippling hit-and-run crash and his quest to fulfill his lifelong dream of cycling across America with his brother Pete. (http://longbikeback.com/)

I have many years of experience working with Avid, setting up post production workflows, and troubleshooting software and hardware issues on Mac and Windows.

I associate produced and/or assistant edited a variety of documentaries including "Body & Soul: Diana & Kathy", "Whiz Kids", and "Girls of Daraja". After college I started with Maysles Films working on a number of projects including "The Gates".

I've read/lurked in a number of helpful d-word topics for a while, but I've never formally introduced myself.

Great to be able to formally welcome you, Julia. Hope you'll continue to post now that you've broken the ice. I remember meeting you after a NYWIF panel I was on and being intrigued by your film. Glad to hear it's making progress.

Hi everyone!
So happy to join this group! I found out about it through IDA.
I'm a former producer at PBS and now produce indie docs. I wrote, produced, directed and edited "Transformation: The Life and Legacy of Werner Erhard" about the controversial founder of est. It was picked up for distribution by Screen Media Films. I learned a lot going through that experience. I've done a few others as well and have been hired by producers to help with structure of the films.
I've just returned from Timbuktu (yes a real place in Mali, Africa) doing a film about the nomadic Tuaregs – an ancient culture on the verge of extinction. We followed the son of a Tuareg chief who is also a music promoter on a mission to save this people and his culture. I'm editing and looking for grants and possibly co-pro arrangements. Heading out to LA next week- becoming bi-coastal to work on projects.

Thanks so much Doug for creating this fabulous site. I'll try to visit often. Robyn
