Docs In Progress is pleased to welcome Fernanda Rossi back to Washington DC for a weekend of providing insights into how you can better pitch and package your documentary for fundraising. The earlybird registration deadline is this Friday, October 19.
NOVEMBER 3: MASTER CLASS: PACKAGING YOUR DOCUMENTARY FOR FUNDRAISING: THE LSD APPROACH.
The “LSD” Fernanda will be discussing stands for Loglines, Synopses, and Demos. How can these three elements (as well as Pitches) make the difference between getting your documentary on screen or not seen? During this full-day workshop at the George Washington University’s Media and Public Affairs Building, you will learn how to best represent your project verbally, in writing, and with audiovisual material to potential funders and distributors. The workshop will cover:
• Key elements of a pitch, proposal and demo
• Opening and closing techniques for pitching, proposals and trailers
• Different lengths of demos and what they are for
• Analysis of before/after cases studies
• View successful synopsis and fundraising samples
There will be a raffle for a gift certificate. Also the latest edition of Fernanda’s book Trailer Mechanics (2nd Edition released March 2012) will be available at a discount with signing after the presentation.

Fernanda will be giving three small group clinics at the Docs In Progress Documentary House in downtown Silver Spring on Sunday afternoon. This is an opportunity to get some individualized attention from Fernanda about your documentary work-in-progress. These small group one hour sessions will have maximum of three participants each.
