I am an award winning documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York who is just finishing a new experimental short documentary about remembering called FORGET ME NOTS. In addition, I am in the process of crowd funding the 10th Anniversary DVD of my documentary film DAUGHTER OF SUICIDE and I am working on two new projects – one is a web-based extension of DoS and FMN, the other is a documentary about Oliver Sacks.
I am seeking an intern who can help me with several aspects of my work:
• Reach out to blogs and organizations that write about surviving suicide and ask them if I can write a guest post or if they are willing to feature me in some way. The goal is to promote the Kickstarter campaign that is currently running to fund the DoS DVD.
• Help me to create to brainstorm, research and create the Grassroots Distribution Tour of DoS and FMN. This includes creating a workshop/theme/packaging that can we used to promote the tour and at screening sites as well as contacting potential participants in the tour.
• Help to create the web based extension that will be the foundation of the Tour and outreach efforts.
• Help to build and maintain my social media profile.
I'm sure there is more... but that's a big start! I'd like an intern who can employ critical and creative thinking skills, work independently in my home office (or at their home some of the time if that seems to work for both of us), is familiar with Mac computers, is child friendly and trustworthy! (I have two young children who are around and about which can make my schedule chopped up and hectic. I'd like an intern who likes kids because they are around sometimes and an intern who can deal with the fact that my attention can be distracted by the kids sometimes.)

My name is Vasilios Sfinarolakis, Producer and Director of Photography for the Guarani Project Documentary
I want to take 5 minutes of your time to ask you for your help. If there is any one community of people that can help us here at the Guarani project, it's the D-worders.
Recently, I, along with my partner Annabel Symington have been in the throws of raising money to produce and shoot a documentary concerning water in Latin America. Over the last two months we've been trying to raise a target of $14,500 so we can make an initial 2 month research trip into the region. We are close to our goal via Kickstarter but there is still a good amount of funds to be raised.
If we don't hit that $14,500 target within 4 Days, we don't get a dime of the over $9,000 already pledged.
The support and positive feedback that I've had from people regarding this Project has been overwhelming. What's been harder is getting people to translate their enthusiasm into a pledge.
In the last 56 days of fundraising so much has happened that further strengthens the reach and potential of this documentary, from being featured in various Online and Print Media, having the CEO of the Brazil Foundation personally contact us, to having the very respected hydrologist at Oregon State University, Dr. Michael Campana join the team as our water advisor.
The fact of the matter is water use has grown at twice the rate of the world’s population for the last century, and we’ve reached peak water, the point at which the renewable supply is forever outstripped by unquenchable demand. Compounding this problem, the hydrologic cycle is growing less predictable as climate change alters established temperature patterns around the globe. As countries look to alternatives sources of water to alleviate shortages the world’s largest body fresh water, The Guarani Aquifer, is going to be high on the list.
And yet, despite it all, we are still coming up short in funding, and the clock is ticking. In 4 days, we need over $4000. And we know we can do it.
But not without help.

Looking for a filmmaker interested in 1920's American bank robbers.
I am a writer who has done extensive research on Herman K. Lamm, often called "the father of modern bank robbery" and "the man who taught Dillinger." Very little was known about Lamm. No biographies. No movies. This would be the first. I have written a screenplay about Lamm, but would prefer to work with a documentary filmmaker. History is my first love.
A few of the dynamics of the Herman Lamm story.
He was an expatriated Prussian officer who came to America just before World War One.
Lamm came into contact and was likely influenced by Wobblies.
He worked on a prison road camp in Utah on the old Outlaw Trail and came into contact with former members of Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch, which is the source of legends about Lamm being involved with Cassidy.
He is considered one of the most prolific bank robbers of the 1920's and the "Lamm Method" was copied by many other robbers.
His final robbery and chase by a posse in 1930 is one of the most exciting bank robbery stories in American history.
If anyone is interested in his story, please let me know. It is an important part of American history and is yet to be documented.

I work as Surround Staff for a summer Writer's Retreat called "Squaw Valley Community of Writers." I'm in the screenwriting program, although there's also a novel program. For the last 5 years I've been with them, spending a week in Lake Tahoe working on a script exclusively with other screenwriters.
You work with a mentor, who reads through your script in advance and then, each afternoon, has a small group of students that they meet with in groups and one-on-one. They know your script in advance so you get a lot of direct attention on your specific story, which was a huge help for me early on.
I do surround staff, which is basically like setting up the DVD projector and the like. I attended on a scholarship my first year and have been going back since just to help however I can. Hashing out problems in my screenplay with a seasoned professional was great for understanding screenwriting as a whole, and spending a week lodging in this mountainous resort was inspirational for the new ideas I'm always looking for.

I did this for two years and had a really good time. Basically they let you attend this crazy, fun and amazing music camp for free and make some sort of movie under the mentorship of the great Garry Beitel. You also help out by filming their incredible concerts. I heard they are still waiting for people to apply. This is in the Laurentians in Quebec, but there is a bus ride included from Montreal.

David Stein Memorial Filmmaking Scholarships
David Stein was a talented young filmmaker who passed away suddenly in 2004 at age 34. David produced a wide variety of works in his prolific career including documentary features, music videos, short art films, and a variety of corporate and commercial work. His films screened at a number of international film festivals, as well as on Bravo!, History Television, Vision TV, and Star TV among others. David was well-known in the Jewish film and music community and with his ever-present camera in tow was a ubiquitous presence at many Yiddish culture events, including two stints at KlezKanada in 1998-99. In addition to his artistry as a filmmaker, David was known for his vibrant spirit, larger-than-life personality, and unforgettable smile. The David Stein Film Scholarship is an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to explore KlezKanada creatively through the camera’s eye. Under the supervision of veteran documentary filmmaker and teacher Garry Beitel, participants will hone their documentary skills through workshops and filmmaking projects – using performances and interactions with the leading lights of the Yiddish culture scene and the 450+ KlezKanada enthusiasts as their subjects.

That's a good question, Koen, and I think it's best posed to the filmmakers themselves. In BISMILLAH'S case, it is Jolene Pinder and Sarah Zaman. Sometimes, it's strategic as a short film is a way get interest in/funds for a longer version of the film. For example, Jennifer Redfearn's short THE NEXT WAVE, which was shown at Media That Matters in 2009, was later expanded to SUN COME UP, which recently premiered at Full Frame. But it's also a question that perhaps many others in this forum can answer.
I wanted to let the D-word members know about our new online ongoing documentary film festival at www.docspopuli.com. Conceived and curated by accomplished documentary filmmakers, Docs Populi groups accepted films into thematic collections which include both familiar and less well known works of all eras and lengths. Filmmakers submit their work for consideration and pay an entry fee as in most other film festivals. Unlike many other film festivals, Docs Populi responds to every entry with written comments, and if accepted, the film and the filmmaker are given a unique page within Docs Populi whose sole purpose is to preview and promote the film and the filmmaker, and to sell DVDs of the work to the internet public. Films that do not fit easily into one of the thematic collections, may be submitted to the "One of a Kind Docs" collection. Filmmakers with a work-in-progress can submit to "Films Looking for Funding" as a way to find finishing funds from interested individuals and film funding foundations recruited to the site by our staff. Docs Populi also provides a consultation service, whereby interested filmmakers can submit a rough cut of a film to a specific curator for feedback. DocuClub in May!
Our May DocuClub will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 7 p.m., at 92YTribeca, located at 200 Hudson Street, at Canal. (Take 1, A/C/E to Canal Street).
We will be showing a rough cut of "DeAf Jam" by Judy Lieff. The documentary traces the journey of five deaf teens from New York City as they discover and explore American Sign Language (ASL) poetry with some of this nation’s most acclaimed ASL poets, and then bring their poetry to their hearing peers at youth poetry slams and other spoken word events. Performing in ASL, a dramatic visual language, the poets use rhythm, movement and body language to create a cinematic equivalent to oral poetry. The poets use sign language and poetry also to raise issues about disability and the future of ASL. Pitted against the journey of the poets and contributing to this bittersweet story, is a counter-narrative, which traces the increasing erosion of this indigenous art form in the face of technologies and the educational system “serving” to mainstream the Deaf into the hearing world. One of the highlights of the film is a collaboration between a deaf Israeli poet and a hearing Palestinian poet. Without “speaking” each other’s language, they manage to navigate through the collaborative process both with and without an interpreter. Director/Producer Judy Lieff is a dancer, filmmaker, and teacher. She began her relationship with the Deaf community through the making of an award-winning experimental film, "Duties of my Heart." The film became a catalyst for four consecutive grants to teach video production workshops she designed for deaf teens in Los Angeles. In 2000, Lieff received a National Dance/Media fellowship from the Pew Charitable Trusts. In 2004 and 2007, she was awarded a New York State Council on the Arts independent film grant for production on "DeAf Jam." In 2009, the film was awarded finishing funds from the Independent Television Service Open Call competition.
Steve Zeitlin, Co-producer, served as co-producer of "From Mambo to Hip Hop," a documentary about the South Bronx funded by ITVS and broadcast on public television across the U.S. as part of the Voces series of Latino Public Broadcasting. He received his Ph.D. in folklore from the University of Pennsylvania, and is the director and co-founder of City Lore, an organization dedicated to the preservation of New York City’s—and America’s—living cultural heritage.
Editor Keiko Deguchi cut award-winning documentary films such as Jeremiah Zagar’s "In a Dream," Linda Hattendorf’s "The Cats of Mirikitani," and John Valadez and Cristina Ibarra’s "The Last Conquistador." Her most recent film, "To Catch a Dollar: Muhammad Yunus Banks on America," was shown at Sundance Film Festival 2010. She is the recipient of the James Lyons Editing Award at Woodstock Film Festival in 2008.
Our moderator will be Doug Block, a is a multiple award-winning, New York-based documentary director, cameraman and producer. His films "The Heck With Hollywood" and "Home Page" have been released theatrically in the U.S., won awards at leading international film festivals and have been broadcast around the world. "51 Birch Street" was named one of the 10 Best Films of 2006 by a number of leading critics, including The New York Times, and was selected as one of the outstanding documentaries of the year by the National Board of Review. His latest film, "The Kids Grow Up," is about his relationship with his daughter and only child, Lucy, shot over a period of 18 years and focusing on her last year at home before she left for college. The film is set for an early Fall theatrical release and a later broadcast on HBO. Block is also founder and co-host of The D-Word, an online community for documentary filmmakers, which now has over 4,000 members from 80 countries.

Doc Alliance Films Offers 3 Films by Iranian Filmmaker Sepideh Farsi
On May 10, Doc Alliance Films will add another film by award-winning director, Sepideh Farsi. Harat (2007), which won the Best documentary prize at Festival dei Popoli, follows mother and daughter Sepideh and Darya – a successful young filmmaker and her child who has clear ideas about how to make a film. Institute of Documentary Film – Call for Articles
Two months into the adventure that is the www.DOKweb.net portal, the Institute of Documentary Film would like to announce a call for articles. We encourage documentary practitioners, industry insiders, students in a film or a film-related programme and other documentary professionals to send us submissions that deal with the theory or practice of documentary filmmaking in any part of the world.
Preference will be given to texts accessible to a broad audience. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to, an account of your experience with international co-production, funds or broadcasters; documentary funding in Western Europe or North America; difficulties encountered in the development of your project; an outline of legal or other issues hampering the audiovisual industry in your country; advice and suggestions concerning various aspects of documentary filmmaking; views from the other side (overseas contributors, commissioning editors, funders). Film reviews are not part of the current call.
Submissions of 2 – 6 standard pages may be sent in English, Czech or Slovak. Texts selected by IDF's editorial staff will be posted in English and Czech on our portal, www.DOKweb.net, the largest online resource for East European documentary film. Following an agreement with the author, texts may be edited or trimmed. Authors of published submissions will receive CZK 250 per standard page.
There is no fixed deadline; submissions are considered on an ongoing basis. Please send your text in .doc format to firstname.lastname@example.org. The authors of accepted and rejected texts will be notified by email within two weeks.

Our June DocuClub will take place on Wednesday, June 9, 7 p.m., at DCTV, located at 87 Lafayette Street (at Walker; take N/R/Q/6 trains to Canal).
We will be showing a rough cut of "Building Bridges" by Anand Kamalakar. The documentary follows a group of students from a New York City public school who travel to India. They journey across three cities performing as a band, staying with families and encountering all that India has to offer, they come to realize and understand the true meaning of love, friendship, discomfort, humanity and respect. This documentary takes you on an up-close personal colorful journey, revealing the complex and controversial nature of globalization and what it means beyond consumerism.
Director Anand Kamalakar is a Brooklyn-based documentary film director/editor. His documentary "A Match Made in Calcutta" won the Best Film award at the Mumbai International Film Festival, in 2002. The film was broadcast across Europe and Canada. He edited the series American Roots Music for PBS, and edited and executive-produced the feature-length documentary "Heart of Stone," winner of an Audience Award for Best Documentary at Slamdance. Kamalakar has also edited numerous films for The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, New York Times Television, and the networks CBS, NBC and ABC. He was a creative consultant on the Academy Award-winning documentary "Born Into Brothels."
Director of Photography Sachidananda is a cameraman from Bangalore, India, whose primary work has been in the regional feature film industry. He has worked on a several feature films and television projects in the Kannada language.
Our moderator will be Jennifer Merin, who has written about film for 20 years. She currently covers documentary film for About.com, is the film critic for Women’s eNews, and edits Women On Film, the online journal of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, a nonprofit professional organization of which she is the President. Merin also reports on film and cultural matters for Westwood One Radio Network‘s morning drive news magazine, “America In the Morning,” and for Around The World Radio. She has been a regular reviewer and interviewer for New York Press, and has contributed to TheReeler.com. She has worked as newswriter/editor for ABC and CNN, and reporter for NBC. Her ongoing weekly column about culture and travel has resided at the Los Angeles Times and Associated Press, among others, and is currently distributed by ArcaMax Publishing. Merin served as a juror at the 2009 IDFA, and is a juror for the 2010 Golden Trailer Awards. She holds an M.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has taught at the University of Wisconsin and University of Rhode Island, lectured worldwide for the U.S. State Department and conducted workshops in New York City correctional institutions.

"The Minutemen" is a documentary about ten overly vigilant patriots who took it upon themselves to protect the Southern U.S. border from what they consider an "invasion" of Illegal Immigrants.
We follow these self-appointed watchdogs as they fight to regain their sovereignty as well as their own sanity in an isolated and dangerous landscape. Shot over the course of four years, the film examines the motivations of and relationships between these conflicted patriots.
With the new Arizona immigration law raising the public consciousness about border issues, "The Minutemen" Movie gives insight into the role citizen watchdogs play in influencing government policy.

UnionDocs Collaborative-Call For Entries
I’m writing to inform you of an opportunity for emerging documentary artists, called the UnionDocs Collaborative Program. The Brooklyn Rail recently pointed to the success of the first year of this program in an article titled, "UnionDocs Brings Autuers Together," http://www.brooklynrail.org/2010/04/local/uniondocs-brings-auteurs-together ,and we are are quite excited to be opening applications up for six new participants in 2010-2011.
The UnionDocs Collaborative is a one or two-year program; both a rigorous platform for exploring contemporary approaches to the documentary arts, and a process for developing an innovative group project. The program focuses on providing what we believe are the most effective educational resources for individuals at the beginning of their careers:
* Mentorship toward the production of an original work.
* Dynamic interaction among a network of talented peers.
* Direct contact and structured exchange with visiting artists.
* Exposure to a wide variety of practices and models.
* Regular group critique sessions.
* Exposure through a toured exhibition and/or publication of annual project.
The first iteration of this year’s UDC project, "Documenting Mythology,” premiered at Doc Fortnight 2010: The Museum of Modern Art's International Festival of Nonfiction Film, and will be presented in Boston next month by The Sensory Ethnography Lab at Harvard University. A wider international distribution effort and tour is planned for the coming fall.
The UDC has been set up to be affordable and scheduled for individuals who work full-time or freelance. UnionDocs is able to offer an intensive learning experience at a price that one might expect to pay for just a single credit at a university. Some residency options are available for individuals considering moving to the NYC. Our July DocuClub will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 7 p.m., at DCTV [http://www.dctvny.org/], located at 87 Lafayette Street (at Walker; take N/R/Q/6 trains to Canal).
We will show a rough cut of THE LULU SESSIONS by S. Casper Wong. Raised in a small farm in Vermont, Dr. Louise Nutter, or LuLu, entered college at 15-years old, and by 29, was a star scientist invited to set up the first national cancer research center in Taiwan. The chain-smoking, hard-living, beloved professor has just discovered a new anti-cancer drug when she finds out she is dying of breast cancer herself at 42. Shot during the last 1.5 years of LuLu’s life, the film is a raw, intimate, yet surprisingly humorous story about the filmmaker showing up for her best friend, and together, testing the limits of their bond while taking on life’s ultimate adventure: death.
Director S. Casper Wong is a New York-based writer, director and producer of narrative and documentary films. Her narrative feature screenplay, OO1, a suspense drama, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Screenplay at Urbanworld Film Festival and two Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Screenwriting Grants – at New York University and the Hamptons International Film Festival Screenwriter’s Lab. Her narrative short film, SHIRTS & SKINS, was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Taipei Film Festival, and was licensed to The Independent Film Channel for a three-year run. It is now part of the Tribeca Film Institute’s curated Reframe Collection. She is currently in production on a feature documentary about East-West integrative medicine and the global health crisis. Prior to receiving her M.F.A. from New York University’s Graduate Film Program, Wong was Senior Counsel for IBM’s Western Region, based in San Francisco, and holds a B.S. in Bio-medical Engineering from Columbia University. THE LULU SESSIONS is her feature documentary debut.
Our moderator will be Howard Weinberg, who helps other filmmakers improve their films as a script-doctor. An award-winning independent documentary filmmaker, he educates and mentors students at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. His PBS documentary credits include SPORTS FOR SALE, FIRST THINGS FIRST, ONE PLUS ONE, and NET.LEARNING. An innovative television journalist, he was a Founding Producer of THE MACNEIL/LEHRER REPORT; Executive Producer of LISTENING TO AMERICA WITH BILL MOYERS; and a producer-writer for SUNDAY MORNING and SIXTY MINUTES, both on the CBS network. He also has taught at New York University and Dartmouth, and created a documentary film series at Columbia. The Daily News called the subject of his film SID AT 90, the “undisputed star” of the 2003 New York Jewish Film Festival. He is president of The New York Film/ Video Council, a non-profit serving the independent media community. His current major documentary project is TV LAB: LICENSE TO CREATE, an educational feature about an innovative era of public television from 1972-1984.

Entries to the Film Festival must include:
1. DVD of the film (with English subtitles, if required)
2. A completed and signed copy of the entry form
3. Three high-resolution stills of the film (can be sent via email)
4. A high-resolution photograph of the director (can be sent via email)

All submitted films will be subject to a selection process by eminent members of the festival jury.

Hello D-Worders! I want to introduce the D-Word community to an exciting participatory documentary event I am helping to produce. One Day On Earth is an online community of photographers, filmmakers, students, and inspired individuals all teaming up with the goal of creating a more accurate picture of life on this planet.
On October 10th, 2010 (10.10.10), thousands of people from every nation around the world will film their perspective and contribute their voice to the largest participatory media event in history; the event will result in a feature documentary and online video archive that will showcase the diversity, conflict, tragedy, and triumph that can occur in one day on earth.

We are looking for a fixer/translator to join our team for a 5-6 week shoot from late July to early September in South America.

You must be FLUENT in Spanish, Portuguese AND English, and be based in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay or Uruguay.
The job will be very hard work but amazing fun- think, travelling all night, one hour sleep and then interviewing the environment minister of Paraguay before heading off to interview displaced indigenous people and then spending the evening translating it all and discussing/planning the next day.
We are not so interested in finding the person with the most impressive CV but rather looking for someone who will fit the dynamic of the team- young, creative, intelligent and ambitious!

Just a post to let you know about The NOMAD Project, an exhibition to premiere at the 2010 debut of Access & PARADOX, taking place the 21-24 of October 2010 in Paris, France.
The NOMAD Project will be an exhibition of short films directed and/or produced by independent filmmakers utilizing innovative and explorative ways of telling a story. The aim of the exhibition is to share with the contemporary art audience unique ways in which filmmakers are adapting to the stage of the global economy as well as shifts in technology. The films can be narrative, documentary or experimental, and should relate to PARADOX’s unofficial theme “Nostalgia for Nature”.

This is the first feature documentary ever made about the seminal 80's
new wave band Devo. We are currently seeking a co-editor and two to
three assistants to join our post-production team.
Devo, broadly known for their hilarious inverted flower-pot hats and
hit song "Whip It", is also recognized by its fans and critics as a
darkly subversive group of conceptual artists. Their ideas and tight,
aggressive musicianship are completely original.
Devo's name comes from an elaborate theory concocted by members that
mankind is devolving. They use music, film, performance, costume, and
art to get their ideas across.
Its members grew up in the 60's -70's former rubber factory
towns of Akron, Ohio. They were art school kids, and formed the band
partially as a dadaist reaction to Vietnam and the shootings of
protesters at Kent State which involved their friends and acquaintances.
Discovered by Iggy Pop, they became hugely successful in the 80's,
declined, sold out, went into hiatus almost broke
up, and now have finally made a new album – the first in 20 years.
The band's leaders, Mark Mothersbaugh and Jerry Casale, have an odd
love/hate relationship that is a central story in the film. We have
open access to the band, and have interviews with them, Iggy Pop, Dave
Grohl and other rock notables, family members, and a crazy cast of
characters who surrounded them during their Ohio days. There is
amazing archival and present-day concert footage, verite footage, home
movies and present-day stuff shot by the cinematographers Lee Daniel
(SLACKER, FAST FOOD NATION, DAZED AND CONFUSED), and Shane Sigler
(CAPITALISM:A LOVE STORY).
The film's theme could be loosely described as "what happens to an
artist's intense creative and political convictions as they get
older". We seek to combine traditional documentary method with
offbeat editorial styles and structuring to produce something that
reflects the craziness of the subject. Think Errol Morris' FAST CHEAP
AND OUT OF CONTROL. Devo now has a new album on Warner Brothers and
are touring. This band is well-loved enough and the film interesting
enough that we hope to garner strong festival
attention and conceivably a small theatrical release.
We have a quirky, fun team we hope you can be a part of. The
filmmaker/editor is Tony Pemberton. His first narrative feature, BEYOND THE OCEAN, went to Sundance and multiple international festivals. In
addition to Devo, he has a new narrative feature in the works which is
set in Russia and will be an international coproduction. The producer,
Roberta Friedman got her start with George Lucas on Star Wars and
Empire Strikes Back. Co-editor Ann Husaini has edited two highly
original feature documentaries, ALMA and CARNIVAL
ROOTS, which were both selected for Whitney Biennials and had wide
festival exposure, as well as multiple television projects for MTV and
other cable channels.
This film is a probono project. Hours will be tracked for deferred
payment. It does have strong investor interest, so we hope we can eventually offer pay, but cannot guarantee anything. Editing on AVID.
There is approximately 80 hours of footage. We have transcripts,
and need logging/organizational assistance and some synching. For editors, we are currently creating topical segments that we'll use to structure the first rough cut.
We'd like to give assists junior editorial opportunity – pulling nuggets they think are great, assembling string outs, and taking a first stab at rough cuts when possible. Please be able to offer either two days a week or a chunk of time a month.

Kevin O'Hanlon is a gallery owner and filmmaker, originally from Dublin, now living in NYC. He's starting a nonprofit called FilmsOnArtists through which he will travel the globe to make documentaries about artists and the creative process.
The primary focus will be the artists' context as content, how they have been influenced by their environment, history and circumstances, and how they have uniquely channeled that experience in a positive and creative way. The films won't be about famous artists, but about spiritually and environmentally connected ones, ones who daily take random materials and refine them into artforms that educate and enlighten.
"Artists don't have a blueprint for what they do. No one has been where their mind is currently projecting. They look into a blank canvass and create a future that we will all ultimately inhabit. FilmsOnArtists will combine their experiences and report back from the creative front-lines to let us know what that future will look like."
O'Hanlon has made films of a dozen artists and art projects to date. Recent projects include a documentary of an orphanage in Cambodia, a woodcarver in the rainforest in Costa Rica, and two in Haiti. One of the Haiti films happened when Kevin went there to offer help following the earthquake and visited with orphans who had lost their home and school in the catastrophe. He joined forces with Life For The World and Haitian-American artist Richard Laurent and brought the kids 220 canvasses to paint. He filmed as these young artists created their very first paintings. From there, Kevin and Life For The World took that film and the art produced by the children and had an exhibition at his gallery in Chelsea. The money raised went to rebuild the demolished orphanage that is home to the young Haitian children. The Haitian childrens's project will continue to be supported by and reported on by FilmsOnArtists.
Says O'Hanlon: "This was one of those mutually abundant situations. We got to experience the mindset of these amazing children at a pivotal moment in their lives, while bringing so much joy to kids who had never held a paintbrush or seen a blank canvass before. The project empowered them, affirmed their artistic abilities and set them on a creative path to their own solution. They are Haiti's future, the generation who will rebuild."
An interactive website is being designed for FilmsOnArtists. The website will catalog the films and interconnect the lives of the artists that show up in FilmsOnArtists' documentaries with visitors of the site. Viewers will be able to engage more meaningfully in the project by perhaps choosing which geographic location thay are interested in or what type of art. A future feature of the site will allow the user to select a theme such as "hope", "curiosity" or "courage" and hear our global artists speak together on that theme.
We want www.FilmsOnArtists.com to be a place where people can gain inspiration from every corner of the globe and connect to a global creative energy.

Hi all I realised I ought to have written a little bit more about the doc.
It's called The Queen's Suite
Tagline: A young jazz musician, Duke Ellington, the Queen of England, a 15 piece orchestra, a dream driven by passion and music that blows the dust of life.
I've been working on the doc for 19 months with no funding.
The vlog is about why I made the Queens's Suite and why it's on Kickstarter.
It's on so that the doc can be finished. I've organised some great gifts in exchange for a pledge.

Hi there, working in two media campagins that involve famous artists, photographers, actors and filmmakers. We're developing this campaings for the next 3/5 years and include documentaries, live tv events, exhibitions, books and social media. We already have a executive producer, a very good PR company interested, filmmakers and the production team. I'm the producer in one of the campaigns that involves a very famous national geographic photographer and is about children in conflict zones. The second project is a media awareness social activist documentary about the Amazon. I'm the director of the documentary, and i'm working very closely with a very interesting film studio in the area as well with local indigenous communities and shamans. We have already some of the sponsorship covered. But we still have a lot in the table to work on, so we're looking for 2/3 people who can work in future premises, once we get the full sponsorship we can pay for the amount of work done.
Looking for an assistant producer, contacting organizations, production companies, setting up interviews, creating schedules, talk to the team and figure out places, processes, timeline and everything needed before the shooting. The second or third person will be to make research about current issues and people in the areas, write emails to potential faces of the documentary and contact people.

Help! We are filming a documentary and have a last minute crew cancelation.

1 person to help with sound, lighting, and some filming. (we have a camera operator, but need a back up)

DETAILS: Although this is an internship type non paid position, It is an awesome opportunity!!! The person must commit from Aug 2- Aug 31. Must have a Drivers license!!
We will give them $ for food. We will cover traveling expenses. We will be traveling across the country: NV, UT, CO, NE, MN, WI, IA, IN OH, VT, New York, Washington DC, FL....
Because this is such a last minute request, we are not too picky about the experience.
