Award-winning filmmaker Jon Reiss (www.jonreiss.com) is seeking editing interns for his latest documentary project “Bomb It” about the explosion of graffiti culture all over the world.

Internship in Outreach for New Environmental Documentary
You already know about climate change. But did you know climate change affects the ocean? Some of the excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is dissolving into seawater. It's changing the pH, making seawater more acidic; some say "corrosive." This water actually dissolves the shells of certain shellfish—clams and oysters, for example, as well as tiny plankton—and coral reefs. The effects are working their way up the food chain. Imagine a world without fish: it's a distinct possibility.
A Sea Change is the first documentary about this effect, known as ocean acidification. The film combines hard scientific information-—we interview internationally known scientists—with the personal story of a family of fishermen. With Sven Huseby, retired educator and concerned grandparent, we travel from Norway to Northwestern America, learning about the scientific, economic, and cultural implications of ocean acidification. Target completion date: December 2008.
This is the third film by director Barbara Ettinger of Niijii Films. Her work has screened at Sundance and been broadcast on PBS.
The focus would be web-based: researching ocean acidification, contributing to our blog, driving traffic to and creating content in our various social networks. You'd need access to a computer of your own and work mostly virtually, with face meetings bi-weekly: our key crew members are based in Brooklyn, Germantown, and Philadelphia.
The possibility for non-virtual activities will emerge, as we develop partnerships with local organizations in connection with a number of 2009 events.
This internship is for you if you like to do research, to write, are interested in environmental issues and filmmaking, especially distribution, and are comfortable in the web 2.0 world and able to work independently.

Encuentros del Otro Cine International Documentary Film Festival
(EDOC). EDOC is a celebration of exciting and inventive documentary
films from around the world. It takes place since 2002 in Quito and
Guayaquil and, occasionally, in Cuenca and Manta. Next year's edition
will run from the 7th to the 24th of May, 2009. EDOC annually screens
around 70 films that are representative of contemporary documentary

Barefoot Workshops is a New York City and Los Angeles based not-for-profit, founded by Chandler Griffin in 2004, that offers short, intensive workshops around the world in narrative and documentary filmmaking.
In this two-hour session, Chandler Griffin will provide an overview of Barefoot’s role in using media in the developing world to help Civil Society Organizations, Non-Governmental & Governmental Organizations, and individuals make change where it is needed the most. Chandler will discuss the media tools and formats used on the ground, how to conceptualize a workshop and ways to get involved. The goal of this session is to demystify the “how can I do this?” and give individuals a chance to learn how Barefoot Workshops does it, ask all the questions and get involved. You will learn that through Barefoot’s international workshops, they offer field placements for international students to assist organizations on the ground with media projects that help them to address challenges in their communities. These “hybrid” workshops result in dynamic learning environments, and open the way for international students to gain valuable field experience, and to learn about issues firsthand. If you are interested in discovering how you can change the world through the power of digital media, come find out how Barefoot can train anyone from vastly different backgrounds and skill levels, how to blend the technical and artistic aspects of storytelling, beginning with the basics of image-making all the way through to post-production to create a “symphony” of images and sound. so here's the million dollar question, Chris... how the heck did you manage to clear all the rock songs that I assume pop up all through the documentary? this seems to present a very solid case of utilizing Fair Use, but i just want to know if you did that, and then how you dealt with (or plan to deal with) any future claims by record companies...

The documentary is for realizing in Colombia, with natives communities in danger due to the armed conflict: the indigenous groups of the Colombian Guajira, Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta and the Nukak Makuk, of the forests of the Guaviare.
The doc investigation is ready and I based in this investigation, made the treatment. In this moment we needed one co-productor for realising the grabations and the post-production. Our interest is that many people in the word know the situation of the Colombian native people and his situation in the armed conflict. We the Colombian producers take charge of carrying out the total plan of shooting and post-production and the foreign co-producer, the money for that process and we the colombian producer, have loaned to foreign coproducer, the total right of the sale of the documentary in this Word área and one percentage ( 60 %) in others countries. This is our proposal.

Instead of covering the debate venue itself, we are planning to cover the VP watching party at this following venue.

We are looking for a stringer to work Thursday with us. We need the stringer to do two things:
1.) Pick up two tickets to the event ASAP at one of six locations. The producer should get one ticket in their name and one in the name of Dave Hutchins.

2.) Meet with me on Thursday midday to use small HD cams to capture the event and co-produce the piece. We can offer a typical day-rate stringer fee and co-producer credit for the piece on our site. We will supply all equipment.
