INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION for RoleModel Enterprises
Job title: Internet video producer
Job description: Since RoleModel Enterprises is a small company, you will have the opportunity to take on as much responsibility as you would like. You will have the creative freedom to impact the company with your own ideas. Part of the job will be to learn about anything you might need to do the job.
Job duties: Depending upon the candidate’s skills, the job duties will encompass a subset of the following tasks. Some of the skill sets necessary for the tasks will be taught on the job if necessary.
Creating stories for new media
• Video logging and editing
• Creating a plan for story distribution using social networking sites, text messages, etc.
• Creating web site content, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, etc.
• Operate video camera at networking events
• Ecommerce web site design
Ideal candidate: Has an entrepreneurial spirit, is creative, willing to try out different ideas, and likes working with web technology. Must be familiar with video editing software and comfortable operating a small digital video camera. Also should be familiar with Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, and other new media capabilities. Experience with web site design is a plus, but not required.
About the company: RoleModel Enterprises is located in Vienna, Virginia (one mile from the Vienna metro station). It is a startup dedicated to getting more positive role models featured in entertainment and news stories in new media.
RoleModel Enterprises puts on structured social/educational networking events for people interested in putting positive role models in new media. RoleModel Enterprises creates and distributes fiction and nonfiction stories about role models in written, audio, and video form.
About the CEO: Lisa Schaefer has worked in the technology sector for various government contractors and has mentored interns for several summers. She taught statistics courses for non-math majors at American and Marymount Universities. Dr. Schaefer is the author of Grassroot Hollywood: Brand Yourself as a Role Model in New Media, a book about using a grassroots movement and new technology to put role models’ stories in new media. She serves on the board of several service organizations, hosts Fairfax County public access cable shows, and speaks at conferences. She has taken several graduate level video production courses and has participated in several novel writers workshops.
