The producer/exec producer who has plenty of contacts and experience in the TV, music, and film business. You might work with me a bit if I stay with the project and/or if I end up training you.

PRIMARY DUTIES: KEEP UP WITH FILM FEST DEADLINES
Manage and update Withoutabox.com acct
Help maintain calendar of film fest dates, deadlines, fees
Submit/send films and fees to film festivals; meet deadlines
Communicate with film festivals to request deadline/submission fee waivers

This is the top priority but in the event that the film gets accepted to a fest, you'll need to help out with publicity work ranging from updating our Myspace and website to making calls to radio stations. Please contact me if you're interested or have more questions. We are looking for someone who is flexible and follows through with tasks. Help out with as much as you can, and whatever you can't do, let us know and we can work something out. I started with the internship not long ago and it has been a great experience. My availability has changed so I am looking for an assistant/replacement. Thanks!!

DOCUCLUB CALL-FOR-ENTRIES

DocuClub, a New York-based film series of works-in-progress documentaries, is seeking submissions for 2008.

The format of DocuClub is to screen a rough cut and to have a moderator facilitate a discussion of the film between filmmaker and audience. Past films that have been screened at DocuClub include "Born Into Brothels," "The Boys of Baraka," and "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster."

DocuClub is accepting entries that fit the following criteria:

- They are in the rough cut stage and thus ready to be screened
- They are no longer than 120 minutes and no less than 45 minutes
- They have specific challenges that you wish to workshop

If you would like to be considered, please mail a clearly-labeled DVD screener to the address below. (Please note that your screener will not be returned unless you provide a SASE.)

FREEHELD chronicles Detective Lieutenant Laurel Hester’s struggle to transfer her pension to her domestic partner, Stacie Andree. With less than six months to live, Laurel refuses to back down when the elected officials of Ocean County, New Jersey, deny her request to leave her pension to her partner, an option granted only to heterosexual married couples. FREEHELD captures the media frenzy and passionate advocacy campaign spurred by Laurel’s plight; it also tells the quieter, personal story of the deep love between Laurel and Stacie as they face the reality of losing each other, creating a powerful, nuanced study of a grassroots fight for justice.

The Utopia Film Festival, a community festival for which I have been serving as Program Director, is now accepting submissions. Would love to see any D-Worder submissions. No premiere requirements and we do accept films made within the past two years. Here's our blurb...

The Utopia Film Festival showcases short and feature-length works which entertain and enlighten audiences of all ages. Fiction, Documentaries, Animations, Music Videos, and Experimental Films are all welcome. This year's festival will take place from October 24-26, 2008 in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The Utopia Film Festival is an annual cinematic event, now in its fourth year. It reflects the utopian ideals of Greenbelt, Maryland – one of America's first planned communities. Located between the urban centers of Washington DC and Baltimore, Maryland, Greenbelt was designed and built under the Roosevelt Administration's New Deal Federal Works Program in the 1930s. It remains a vibrant community and its historic city center (where many of the festival events take place) has been designated a national historic district.

While we encourage all submissions, these are special strands which we have planned for 2008:

UTOPIAN VISIONS: Films which address themes of community building, promoting diversity, bettering social and economic conditions, or preserving the environment.

KID VIDS: Family-friendly animated or live-action works. Films produced by children and teenagers are especially encouraged.

HALLOWEEN SCREEN: Since our festival coincides with the week of Halloween, we welcome submissions of serious or spoofy horror films appropriate for the season.

Subtitling job for a German speaker:

Someone wants to have his late father's video Holocaust testimony subtitled from German to English. The interview has already been transcribed and translated. Length is 1:43.

Having just worked with subtitles myself, I know that it works better when the subtitler speaks the native language. That's why I'm passing up this opportunity.

It would be easiest if the editor lives in the States, since the tapes are in NY, but an accomodation could probably be reached if this is not the case.

I am looking for a group to view my film. I am just finishing editing it. (I think, LOL) I did a private viewing a couple of weeks ago and made some adjustments and now I would like to screen it again. If anyone is in the Providence/Boston/Conn area and would provide a place to screen it and up to 10 or 15 people to critique it I would be greatly in your debt. Docs In Progress is seeking submissions for our summer and fall works-in-progress screenings.

We screen documentary rough cuts six times a year in Washington DC and once a year in Baltimore, MD. These screenings are attended by the general public and include a moderated feedback session with the audience. There is currently no fee to submit, although all accepted filmmakers must be willing to attend the screening at their own travel expense. Screenings are usually held on a weeknight.

For our next program in Washington DC (Tuesday, June 10), we are accepting documentary rough cuts which are shorter than 30 minutes. For our July, September, October, and November programs, we will accept submissions of any length. While we accept submissions on a rolling basis, to be considered for the June program, we will need to receive your submission by April 30.

The TFI Youth Screening Series is a yearlong presentation of films that serves NYC youth and educators with access to free, relevant programming. The aim of the program is to spark debate and galvanize awareness and action in young people around the issues that are affecting them.
