(I'm not quite sure why the Topic Cops erased your post in "Shameless Self Promotion" because many, many others have done the same thing; and as far as double-posting goes, i think it kind of makes sense for you to post both in the public and private topics b/c not all members read the public postings...)

Docs in Progress returns to Washington DC on Friday, November 16. We will be screening two work-in-progress documentaries from Baltimore and Chicago. The filmmakers are eager to get feedback from a DC audience.

WHEN? Friday, November 16 from 7:00-10:00 pm

WHERE? Jack Morton Auditorium on the campus of George Washington University. Street address is 805 21st Street, NW Washington DC (at the corner of 21st and H Streets).

HOW MUCH? $5 suggested donation (cash at the door or in advance via Pay Pal)

WHAT'S SCREENING?

THE WALK-ONS by Tim Durham and Aimee Nowland (30 minutes)
College football may be best known for the frenzied competition for top recruits. But what of the local students who want to play for the team? With no full rides offered, these kids work part-time jobs to pay for their tuition. Trampled daily and sold on the hope that after a season or two, they might catch the coach's eye, these walk-ons are not ready to let go of their dreams to go further than the practice field.

MARE IGNOTUM (SEA OF MYSTERY) by Loretta Oleck Berger and Linton Suttner (70 minutes)
It's hard to miss Max Shapiro. Whether on his Harley or showing off his tattoos and pet snake, Max has traveled many lonely roads in his 70 years. But it is the less traveled inner road which most interests his niece as she takes us on a journey to discover more about him and herself in the process.

This program is organized by Adele Schmidt and Erica Ginsberg from Docs in Progress and is co-sponsored by The Documentary Center at the George Washington University.

Hi to everyone. A friend recommended I check this site out and post my services here as a composer.

I'll try to keep my CV brief! I'm writing music for a feature-length drama at the moment, and will be scoring two documentaries over the next few months. Past credits include another feature film, video-pods for Current TV and work for various media companies.

In the end it's the music that counts, so I'll post a link and let it speak for itself: www.soundclick.com/benbeiny

Let me know if you like the sound of it, and whether you think I would suit a project you're working on. Rates are reasonable and negotiable, and I can also supply a full CV with references on request.

Thank you,

The Content + Intent Documentary Institute
Working Films Residency at MASS MoCA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Wilmington, NC. December 18, 2007) – It’s that time of year again! Working Films is accepting applications for its five-day residency for documentary filmmakers at MASS MoCA. The residency, which is called the Content + Intent Documentary Institute, will take place March 12-16, 2008 in North Adams, MA. Applications for admission to the Institute may be found online at www.workingfilms.org (or you can contact Anna Lee at alee@workingfilms.org). The application deadline is January 25, 2008.

Ensuring that a film’s release has an impact is as important as its production. The Content + Intent Documentary Institute will guide approximately ten filmmakers and advanced film students through the development of outreach plans for their film projects. Linking the documentaries-in-progress to organizations committed to progressive social change will be a key component of the Institute. Participants will create an audience engagement plan for their films, identify community partners, and develop support materials, including effective timelines, budgets, and implementation strategies. Working Films will offer insight on the development of web sites, fundraising tactics and press strategies.

Filmmakers accepted to participate in the Institute must submit a $500 enrollment fee to attend. (Some scholarships are available.) The enrollment fee covers housing costs and some meals. Attendees will reside in MASS MoCA’s artist housing which is within walking distance of the training site.

Working Films will announce accepted applicants on February 7, 2008.

About Working Films
Based in Wilmington, NC, Working Films is a national nonprofit that connects documentaries to social change through a variety of ways. Their services range from coordinating rough-cut community feedback screenings, to developing strategies for a documentary’s outreach, to constructing collaborative campaigns between filmmakers and organizers. Working Films is also the only national media outreach organization offering free consultations on using films for social justice to independent filmmakers, with over 400 to date. For more information on Working Films, please visit www.workingfilms.org.

About MASS MoCA

Doing my first documentary film in Italy in January. The sound guy backed out, and now I'm doing my own sound. Really, I just need a shotgun mike/shock mount (windscreen and cable) and boom pole. While I can't afford to buy my own right now, I'm wondering if anyone has one they can loan me. It would be SO greatly appreciated. I can give you a deposit and return it in perfect condition.

I'm at editor@darlabruno.com, located in New Jersey and can pick up in the area or New York or pay for shipping.

We are a small DC-based independent filmmaking team, with several award-winning shorts under our belts, seeking a creative editor for collaboration on our first feature-length project: a documentary about the simmering conflict between religious fundamentalists and increasingly open gay and lesbian people in rural and small town America.

The ideal candidate will have experience in weaving together intimate verite footage, interviews, archival clips, graphic animation, and personal narration to craft a fast-paced film that is engaging and informative.

Do you have extensive video of a major tourist attraction, a National Park, a City tour ? Are you looking for a way to re-purpose your work ?

My company has developed the GPS Ranger, www.gpsranger.com.

The Ranger is a handheld computer with a 4" LCD screen and built in GPS technology. It is designed to be an automated tour guide product. Our product is installed in 7 locations; Martin Luther King Historical Site, Vicksburg National Military Park, Death Valley National Park, Cedar Breaks Nationa Monument, the San Francisco And Dallas Zoo and most recently a walking tour of Key West, Florida. We have 8 more projects lined up as well.

We are looking to expand the number of partners we work with.

We have the hardware and the software and we are looking for content development partners who have compelling and interesting location based stories.

Our system will take your video in 1 to 5 minute segments and have your content automatically trigger in front of a point of interest, how about walking tours for Paris, Venice, Moscow and so on.

Attached is a brochure. Take a look and let me know if you are interested, Thank you

CALL FOR ENTRIES
Voices from the Waters 2008
3rd International Film Festival on Water

Bangalore Film Society, Arghyam, Svaraj- Society for Voluntary Action Revitalization and Justice, Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, Ithaca College, USA (FLEFF) Mountainfilm in Telluride, USA, Alliance Francaise de Bangalore and Water Journeys – Campaign for Fundamental Right to Water are organizing the third International 'Voices from the Waters'- the biggest international film festival on water in August 2008 following on the footsteps of the hugely popular and successful events in 2005 and 2007.

This consortium of committed organizations active in water issues are inviting you to be part of this festival by contributing short, documentary, animation and feature films (DVD format only) with English subtitles on water and related issues. Also include a photograph and CV of the film-maker, a minimum of three film stills and a short synopsis of the film. You are also most welcome to send us photographs for exhibition at the festival.

The first edition of 'Voices from the Waters' was held in April 2005 in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, while the second was held in June 2007 in Bangalore, India by a consortium of organizations. With the overwhelming success and the positive responses to the festival from across the globe and the urgency of the water issue to a planet headed towards catastrophe, 'Voices from the Waters' is being organized as an annual event of images and sounds, of films, songs, photo and art exhibitions, lectures and conferences, a platform for diverse voices – free as water as nature intended it to be.

If you have a film under the following categories:
1. Water Scarcity,
2. The Dams and the Displaced,
3. Water Harvest,
4. Water Struggles,
5. Floods and Droughts,
6. Global Warming and Climate Change,
7. Impact of Deforestation on Water Bodies and
8. Water and Life,

you should consider sending it to us so that we may place them in the festival. All entries will be acknowledged. 'Voices from the Waters' is a public awareness program and while there is no entry fee for the festival, the final short-list for the festival will be decided from the entries by a committee comprised of eminent film-makers, film critics and social activists. This is also conceived as a traveling film festival.

Deadline for entries is 30th April, 2008 .

For more information, contact us at the address below.

Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
The organizing committee

IN SEARCH OF DOCUMENTARY PRODUCER

Hi all -

I've wrapped up a rough cut of my first documentary film titled, "The Money Stone," and I'm in search of a NYC based producer to help finish the project. The film explores the world of illegal gold mining in Ghana, West Africa and looks at its impact on the people and the environment. The film was workshopped last November at the IFP Rough Cut Lab in NYC and has already gained some interest.

Ideally, I'm looking for someone experienced and who has a passion for film about human rights and development in Africa. More specifically, I'm looking for someone who will help secure completion funds, aid in the creative process of bringing the film to picture lock, and help in bringing the film to festivals and through distribution. Most importantly, I'm looking for someone to become part of the team who wants to see the film be successful and get the word out about the topic. Compensation will be provided once funding is secured.

Visit www.moneystonefilm.com for more info about the film. Please email all inquiries to swhfilm@yahoo.com.

The Sacramento International Film Festival is coming March 29 to April 6 and we want you to be a part of it. Inspired by local filmmakers' contributions last year in our component of the 48 Hour Film Festival we are inviting you to make a submission for Current TV.

Current TV is a network started by Al Gore that features viewer generated content. Instead of the networks telling the people what is news, the people are telling the network what the news is.
