In partnership with local agencies, we offer very poor people business training and seed capital to launch or expand a microenterprise, and savings support to build assets. Trickle Up works with partner agencies in 8 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In 2009, we will help start or expand nearly 11,000 businesses, improving the lives of 60,000 people around the world. Trickle Up’s annual budget is approximately $5 million, and we have headquarters in New York City and field offices in India, Mali, Uganda and Guatemala.
Trickle Up seeks a freelance video producer/editor for a short documentary project featuring our CGAP project in India. The producer will report to the Communications Officer in and work in collaboration with our Asia program team headquartered in New York.
This project will be the second in a series of three short films documenting several participants and their families over the course of a three-year project in West Bengal, India that helps people living in extreme poverty start sustainable livelihoods. Filming has already been completed; this project will require editing the captured footage to produce part two of the series. The final video should be about 10 minutes in length and consistent in style with the first video in the series. Click here to view the first video (“Trickle Up India: A Family Portrait”).
• Candidates MUST be fluent in both Bengali and English, as the footage is filmed in Bengali and will require translation into English
• Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong work experience in production, timeliness and attention to detail
• A demonstrated interest in international development is preferred.
• Time in the office is possible, but not required beyond project check-ins
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate-level degree or current enrollment in graduate program preferred
Salary and benefits:
This is a paid, short-term freelance position from May-July 2009. Benefits are not included in the compensation for this position. To Apply This position is currently vacant.
