Internship Description:

Interns will have the opportunity to work hands-on with the company leadership and get involved in substantive projects. We are looking for interns to assist with research, production, event planning, and administrative support. It's a high priority for us to assign you projects that match your interests, and reward your hard work through our Intern Incentive Program. So here's your opportunity to get some valuable experience, secure a good recommendation AND make the world a better place!

Internship Requirements:

We're looking for creative, smart, and organized interns with a passion for socially conscious media or health issues. You must commit at LEAST 16 hours/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. We are flexible about scheduling and working from home. Also, we always invite our interns to our creative meetings and to accompany us to film events around town.

DocuClub in November!

We are happy to announce a partnership with Tribeca All Access for our November edition. Our next DocuClub screening will take place on Tuesday, November 25, at 7 p.m, at Tribeca Screening Room (375 Greenwich, at the corner of Franklin Street). Our moderator will be FERNANDA ROSSI, who is a writer, filmmaker and story consultant. She has worked on over 150 documentaries, fiction scripts and fundraising trailers. She also pens the columns “Ask the Doc Doctor” for Release Print and “The Doc Doctor’s Clinic” for DER, the Documentary Educational Resources. She is the author of Trailer Mechanics: A Guide to Making Your Documentary Fundraising Trailer.

Please join us as we screen "Off and Running" by NICOLE OPPER. The film depicts Avery, a seventeen year-old African American national track and field champion whose adopted parents are two Brooklyn Jewish lesbians, as she embraks on a quest to meet her birth mother in Texas.

Director Nicole Opper’s most recent project was producing the five-part documentary series LSS for Here! Networks, America’s premium gay television network. Her documentary short, "Song of Hannah," is distributed by The National Center for Jewish Film. She also line-produced MACKY ALSTON’s "The Killer Within," and associate-produced PETER MILLER’s "Sacco and Vanzetti." "Off and Running," Opper’s feature-length debut, is a co-production of ITVS, with support from The Foundation for Jewish Culture, The National Black Programming Consortium and The Puffin Foundation.

SHARESE BULLOCK is "Off and Running"’s Producer. She is Strategic Partnerships and Marketing Manager global youth media network Listen Up! She has led service and international education programs, including filmmaking exchanges for young producers throughout the United Kingdom with the “Experiment in International Living” (2005, 2006). She serves on the board of directors for the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture.

JACOB AKIRA OKADA serves as Cinematographer/Associate Producer. He directed and shot the documentary "Curtis," about the journey of a gay African American man living with AIDS and surviving through art. The film received an honorable mention at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival. The short also aired on the PBS series Reel New York.

Executive Producer MACKY ALSTON is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose works include "Hard Road Home" (premiered SXSW 2007, aired on PBS’ Independent Lens 2008), "The Killer Within" (premiered Toronto International Film Festival 2006, aired on Discovery Channel 2007), and "Questioning Faith" (premiered Full Frame Film Festival and Hot Docs International Film Festival and aired on HBO/Cinemax 2002).

Well I guess I'll post my resume too. I work full-time, standard business hrs for a cable doc series, but outside of that I am trying to get involved with as many projects in the LA area as possible, as a way to lend my skills out, to meet local filmmakers, and to just know what's being produced nowadays. I've done PA work, scheduling/coordinating, editing on FCP 3, public relations, film fest submissions, film fest boothing, and lots of other random stuff. The Content + Intent Documentary Institute, Working Films' Residency at MASS MoCA

For 5 days in March of 2009 Working Films will guide a select group of filmmakers as they create outreach plans for their film projects. Over the course of the workshop Working Films' staff together with invited experts in the field of community engagement will cover topics such as:

· Identifying and reaching out to community allies

· Developing support materials such as screening guides or activist toolkits

· Fundraising for outreach and community engagement

· Creating DVD extras as supplemental tools for social movements

· Using social networking and other online tools to increase the impact of films

The 2009 Content + Intent Documentary Institute will be held on the campus of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams, MA from March 11-15, 2009.

I am working on SILUETAS/SILHOUETTES, a doc about a Salvadorian artist and need to shoot some b-roll and interview bites on Saturday afternoon, Nov 22 at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco.

I want to rent/trade a dv camera (preferably an XL1) or similar during the afternoon. Having an xlr shotgun mic and lavalier would be a plus.

DocuClub in December: Tuesday, December 16, 6 p.m.

We are happy to announce a partnership with Third World Newsreel (TWN) for our December session. Our next DocuClub screening will take place on Tuesday, December 16, at 6 p.m., at Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue, at 2nd Street).

Our moderator will be Desireena Almoradie, who is a television producer with over ten years of experience producing for PBS and cable networks. She has been a supervising producer for the PBS newsmagazine show IN THE LIFE, and in 2002, she was an Emmy nominee for a story she produced for that program. Her work has aired on A&E, The History Channel, TVLand, LOGO, and here! Networks. A graduate of New York University's undergraduate film and video program, she received a Masters degree at New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2006. 1. Beyond the Music by Lottie Porch and Vanara Taing. This eight-minute short explores the joy and sense of community within the Inspirational Choir at Riverside Church in New York City.

3. Glitter in the Hood: Gentrification in Brooklyn by Nuala Cabral, Thanushka Yakupitiyage and Jaisal Noor, explores the displacement of community members in Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Hello everyone,

I'm working on a feature length doc that has recently been recommended for funding by ITVS. We just finished shooting and are gearing up for post. One huge task we have right now is to prepare our budget for ITVS (past and future). It clearly takes a whole lot of time and skills that we don't currently have. So right now I'm looking for an Associate Producer/Production Manager to join our team for the duration of the project to help us manage and deal with our budget. And because ITVS has such specific requirements, I'm hoping to find someone in NYC who has experience specifically with ITVS.

I'm also looking for a lawyer to help us with the contract negotiation. Again, I'd like someone with ITVS experience.

This is our first feature and much of this is new us, so if anyone has any advice as we move into this next phase of production its always much appreciated.

I wanted to second Michael's post from a couple of days ago about Joanna Rabiger, grantwriter. Joanna is truly a pleasure to work with! She is incredibly talented and dedicated, with a gift for words and film structure and is able to brilliantly and succinctly articulate a project (without run-on sentences like this one).
