Subtitling job for a German speaker:
Someone wants to have his late father's video Holocaust testimony subtitled from German to English. The interview has already been transcribed and translated. Length is 1:43.
Having just worked with subtitles myself, I know that it works better when the subtitler speaks the native language. That's why I'm passing up this opportunity.
It would be easiest if the editor lives in the States, since the tapes are in NY, but an accomodation could probably be reached if this is not the case.
Please contact me if interested.
I am looking for a group to view my film. I am just finishing editing it. (I think, LOL) I did a private viewing a couple of weeks ago and made some adjustments and now I would like to screen it again. If anyone is in the Providence/Boston/Conn area and would provide a place to screen it and up to 10 or 15 people to critique it I would be greatly in your debt. (Basically I can go anyplace driving distance, any day, as long as I can make it back to work the next morning)
I am not offering money, just an opportunity to watch a film and network. Just a little background, This is my first film and I did not get any grants.
For more background on the film please go to my website at
Hi there! I'm about to graduate from college (University of Virginia) and am looking for either an editing internship or, better yet, assistant editorship. I've sent out 30-odd emails, queries, demos, and resumes, but I imagine I have another 100-odd to go. Any recommendations for post houses to get my start in editing?
My demo is online at youtube.com/user/xtinatracik
email is email@example.com
ANY suggestions are welcome! (Hey, I hear Starbucks has pretty good benefits these days, too...)

Need Funding for Your Project? Get Grants From Foundations and the Govt. w/ IPF Fiscal Sponsorship
FREE: We would like to give guys a free add on so when you call please mention The D-Word and we will give you online donation acceptance with credit card processing free for six months.
Hey guys, we are the Independent Production Fund, an NYC-based non-profit documentary production company with 20 years of experience in cable and public television. Our mission is to assist filmmakers who focus on important stories and subjects in achieving their visions; because these films often have a tremendous impact on their audience and our world.
Because we know that many on The D-Word are working on great projects that are struggling for funding we would like to invite you to apply to our expanding Fiscal Sponsorship program. This will give you access to foundation grants and government funding that is unavailable to individuals and for profit production companies. I would like to emphasize we are not a school or a membership association but a professional production company with a dedicated, experienced staff that understands every step of acquiring public funds because we use them in our own projects.
Some of you may be experienced filmmakers who are just looking for a like-minded organization to act as a conduit for your funds and we can accommodate that. However if you are not as experienced with public sector fundraising we can help you every step of the way with a full range of services like fundraising (and production) consultation, financial management, online credit card donation processing and discounted rentals (including equipment, Avid suites and meeting space).

We're looking for a good English-speaking production company or freelancers in Taiwan to help film a corporate commercial May 14-16.
We will need an HD camera package, sound, gaffer, etc..
Please email me at email@example.com if you are interested.
Leah, go into search and perhaps track down member Shashwati. She could be back in Taiwan and may have contacts; she's been off for a while.
Actually, to find Shashwati you don't want to "go into search", Leah. You want to search the database. Click on the People link at the top of the page to get there.
I have a Sony ECM-44B Omni-Directional Lavalier Condenser Microphone for sale for $150. It was purchased from B & H last year and only used for a few weeks. It's in perfect condition, except for a small scuff on the cable which does not affect performance. I have the receipt and it's in its original packaging. Great mic and great deal! Includes mic/capsule, tie clip, windscreen and case. Pickup in LA or ship to rest of US (add shipping cost).
From B & H's website: The ECM-44B makes the exceptional quality of Sony's electret condenser microphones available for budget conscious productions, and a variety of sound reinforcement requirements, such as lectures and demonstrations. Measuring only 8.5 x 14.5mm, the ECM-44B reduces the visual distraction to the audience. The ECM-44B can be depended upon for clean, bright, yet natural reproduction. To maintain its low cost, this microphone operates on a single AA (does not accept phantom power) battery for over 5000 hours of service.
sorry leah, doug's right. I did check to see you're a member though, because you can access the database only if so (right DB?).
We lost our intern to illness and her backed up college work. So we're looking for another. Come in a couple of days a week on a regular and reliable basis. Help on current projects. Email RRProd@aol.com
I'm auctioning off 83 promotional posters from New Yorker Films' Video collection. The posters are 14x21. View all titles here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmjjvckp
We are looking for an executive producer for the documentary project The Navajo Riders.
The Navajo Riders covers the Navajo Nation Council Horseback Ride in which council delegates ride to different parts of the Navajo Nation to learn about the needs of the Navajo people at townhall meetings, recreating an old tradition. The seven day ride begins at the base of Navajo Mountain, goes through the Monument Valley, and ends in Window Rock, the capital of the Navajo Nation. We follow the NaaTsis Aan Riders throughout this exciting 510-mile journey through three states passing the Navajo volcanic fields, a meteor crash site, and a glacial lake. Along the way suffering temperatures above a hundred degrees, we encounter wild mustangs and ancient Anazasi structures built thousands of years ago. During this week-long event we explore the unique traditions of the Navajo culture.
The Navajo Riders will be submitted to the Native American category for the Sundance Film Festival. Navajo producer, director, and writers are attached to the documentary project.
We have been doing the Navajo Council ride for the past eight years. For the past three years, I have been filming the ride. With these images, I created a trailer, The Navajo Riders 2005, to present the idea for this documentary. To see the trailer please go to www.joshuedeltoro.com

UnionDocs is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit documentary arts collaborative and presentation space. Currently, our primary program is The Documentary Bodega Series, featuring new and challenging documentary film and audio works every Sunday evening in our Brooklyn screening room. The series is produced by the Resident Curators of UDR, the UnionDocs Residency Program for Documentary & Media Studies. We also produce a podcast and blog, featuring short media pieces inspired by discussions at the Documentary Bodega and beyond.
UnionDocs is looking for a new resident starting in June. The UnionDocs Residency (UDR) combines an excellent and cooperative living situation with an opportunity for immersion in independent cultural production. Six carefully selected people live together in a historic building at a great location and collaborate to produce a festival-quality documentary series in the first floor screening room.
322 Union is a great place to live. It has a lot of shared resources and a lot of opportunity for fun while also having adequate privacy and a comfort (not always found in NYC communal living). There are three floors, a basement, a grassy backyard with a grill and deck, a big second story porch, and skyline views from the roof. The location is close to excellent transportation making most cool spots in Manhattan and Brooklyn within a short subway ride.
The first floor is a commercial space run by the program director. It includes the screening room, 2 studios for working media artists, the UnionDocs director’s office, and access to the basement which has been sound-proofed for music rehearsal and audio recording. Resources on the first floor are readily available to UD Residents outside of the schedule for the Documentary Bodega Series.
On the floors above, there are two nicely-sized three bedroom apartments with a living room, kitchen and bath. Both have wood floors, get lots of light, and were recently renovated. Bedrooms can be locked, but common spaces are shared by the six residents. One is better for cooking large meals and socializing and the other more appropriate for reading, working, and watching films. The common spaces are furnished, so residents need only bring the contents of their bedroom. The building has high-speed internet, a VOIP phone, and washer and dryer.
About $875/month plus deposit.
Please check out our website for more information about UnionDocs and UDR and fill out an application if you are interested:
