Story Consultant needed – After working on my political documentary for 4 years, I realize that I need someone experienced with fresh eyes who help shape what I've put together into an exciting must watch documentary. Since this is a political documentary, the subject matter won't be for everyone, as I'm telling a story, not pushing an agenda.

Pay would be in some combination of salary and equity. This is an independent film, however, so keep that in mind. DBLasdon AT ca.rr dot com

On Monday night in LA, I'll be moderating a special International Documentary Association Doc U dedicated to the pursuit of the little golden man, and how the Academy's new Oscar rules might change that lovequest in the coming year. Join me and Steve Pond (The Wrap), Dana Harris (IndieWire), James Moll (AMPAS) and Dusty Smith (Roadside Attractions) at Cinefamily @ The Silent Movie Theatre on Monday at 7:30pm. I plan to ask a lot of questions :)

Jill Morley

Sounds good. Is there a D-Word promotional code? IF not, no probs!

Marj Safinia

Nope. But $15 if you're an IDA member. You ARE an IDA member, right Jill? Not that I'll fight with you over it, but ya know...

In reply to Laura Heckman's post on Fri 9 Dec 2011 :

Don't Miss Out! Deadlines are fast approaching for both initiatives! Submit Now!

Call for Entries! The New York Television Festival is seeking original, independently produced TV pilots for the UK Section of their Independent Pilot Competition. Warner Bros. International Television Production and Fox Television Studios, in conjunction with Apostle, are each offering development opportunities exclusively to UK producers through the competition! DP and Sound Needed in Minneapolis, MN in July, 2012

I will be shooting a series of interviews in Minneapolis for a week in July. Not sure of the specific dates quite yet. The film is about a blind telephone hacker, who spent the last part of his life (he passed away in 2007) living in Minneapolis.

Please send me an email if you are interested with links to work, previous experience, whether you own equipment and if so what.

Feel free to post elsewhere.

I am a tv producer working in unscripted tv in DC. I have been making a podcast about the creators of unscripted film and tv called "The Real Stuff". It's direct, one-on-one interviews. You can listen for free on my site or you can subscribe on iTunes for free. Please give it a try, and if you like it tell a friend. It relies on word of mouth. I think most people who go to this site will want to check it out!!

Last minute tickets are still available for tonight's IDA/DOC U event in Los Angeles. We'll be discussing the Academy Award for Documentary, and the new rule changes. How will they affect the environment for doc makers? What were the problems they were trying to solve, and do the new rules actually address them, or make them worse.

Join me and Steve Pond (The Wrap), Dana Harris (IndieWire), James Moll (AMPAS) and Dusty Smith (Roadside Attractions) at Cinefamily @ The Silent Movie Theatre on Monday at 7:30pm.

I've also now secured a D-Word discount for the event. You can buy tickets at and enter the discount code DWORDDOCU.
