A documentary film fundraiser with special guest, author Grace Paley,
is being held at The Museum of the City of New York on Monday night,
December 8th, for the film "Living in the Coops," which tells the
story of radical Jewish garment workers who built housing
cooperatives in the Bronx in the 1920s -- a utopia from which they

The Film Studies Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder
invites applications for a tenure-track position in the production
effective fall 2004. Rank is open, although the Program anticipates
hiring at the associate or early full professor level. Those applying
for a senior rank will be considered for the position of chair and
should have previous experience in departmental administration,
grant-writing, and fund-raising.

The production area of Film Studies combines the study of 16mm
filmmaking (narrative, documentary and experimental) with digital
and new technologies. We are seeking a film/video maker with an MFA,
significant teaching experience, and a strong portfolio and exhibition
record that demonstrates substantial expertise in digital editing,
design and graphics. Candidates should be thoroughly familiar with the

Optomen Productions seeks an associate producer for a reality series
pilot to broadcast on a major US cable network. Associate Producer
will work with executive producer, researching and supporting all
production needs, including expert and subject casting, scheduling
and conducting interviews and shoots; locating and acquiring footage;
securing all consent and release forms and clearances for footage;
arranging transcription, developing storyline, making transcript
selects and providing support during post production.

Associate Producer will be responsible for all paperwork required,
including music cue sheets, style sheets, etc., and will occasionally
write and edit elements of the show. AP must demonstrate good
interviewing skills, field production skills and fiscal
responsibility and must be willing to perform any additional tasks
required by the executive producer. This is a 17 week commitment to
begin immediately with potential to continue if the series is picked

This is a full time 17 week commitment with travel and weekend
flexibility. Candidates should possess excellent research and writing
skills, demonstrate creativity, responsibility and organizational

recurrent screen industry conferences in Australia - the 2004
Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC).

The 9th AIDC - hosted by ScreenWest - will run for three

"Docs in Thessaloniki" gives the independent producer a unique chance
of presenting a project internationally, to meet colleagues and create
alliances for future cooperation in Europe. Pitch your project to a
wide range of com. editors from different European TV-stations.

Organized by EDN, European Documentary Network in collaboration with
the "Thessaloniki Documentary Festival-Images of the 21st Century"(1-7
March), which includes a national & international program as well as a
doc market and parallel events. The participants of the Pitching Forum
will also have access to the festival.

European producers are invited to apply for participation in the
documentary pitching forum that consists of 5 days intensive training
and information:

Day 1: A general overview of the market situation for documentaries
in Western Europe.

Day 2 & 3: Group work, where the producers meet with international
experts and colleagues, who help them improve and target their
projects to the international market. Pitching training.

Day 4 & 5: Pitching to a panel of European commissioning editors from
different European countries. During the two mornings the projects are

o Monitor edit sessions and format producers, and backup format
producer functions as needed to ensure that project assignment and
execution is followed according to schedule/specifications.
o Acquire missing materials needed in the mastering process by
working with the domestic Library Services department. Determine the
technical specifications required for edit (such as textless
backgrounds and audio tracks).
o Schedule and track all International masters and submasters through
a timely revision process. Analyze all rejected masters, make
recommendations for alternative solutions. Screen all rejections and
source materials, acquire alternate material from supplier and
implement new edit process.
o Provide support, as needed to the Managing Producer -
International, in all post production activities, including screening
final masters following the edit process and prioritizing the edit
