FAHRVERGNüGEN!

Looking for a DP to shoot the last leg of the feature-length documentary on Volkswagen, Circle the Wagen.

EIGHT-DAY ROADTRIP from Los Angeles to Tucumcari, NM and back to take place between January 8th and 16th.

You will be following a ramshackle 1972 bus, it’s adventuresome owner, and willing best friend in their final attempt to save this bus from the scrap heap.

While the job does NOT PAY, all expenses will be provided for.

Adventure includes: the historic sights of Route 66; the Grand Canyon; Busses by the Bridge (an annual air-cooled Volkswagen campout and auto show) at Lake Havasu; and a climactic sunset finish on Santa Monica Pier – the West Coast terminus of Route 66. All of which will look gorgeous on your reel. Mucho margaritas will be consumed, along with at least one round of shots – once we’ve shot our martini.

Please refer to our website where you can see a short as well as an extended trailer of our film: www.circlethewagen.com

Sound up your alley? Contact director Ryan Green at ryan@circlethewagen.com. Please include a cover letter describing production experience that included travel, as well as a link to your documentary reel.

I'm seeking a cinematographer. I'm doing a documentary about New York artists struggling to find work to sustain themselves. I'm shooting some of it myself, but I need someone to help me with the portions I'm involved in, such as my own job search. I'm on a tight budget but I'm offering $50/day, and the days won't be long. I'm a recent graduate of NYU film school and you can read more about me at thinkpiecefilms.com. If you're interested please email me at neilorman@earthlink.net.

Any dinosaurs, er, artists out there still working with film? or planning to anytime soon?

I have a $1000 gift certificate with Kodak redeemable for any of their motion picture film stock. Instead of using it myself, I can sell it for $800 to anyone interested. Let me know as soon as you can – I have to use the certificate by the end of the year!

Brooklyn Apt. Available: January 1 – June 1

Hello. I'm going to Northampton Mass. for five months starting in January. and looking for a nice person or couple to rent a large room in my apt.

It's sunny, has hardwood floors, and is near the 1st stop on the L train in Williamsburg.

Sorry no pets or smoking in the building.

But there is bike storage in the ground floor hallway, which is great.

If you are looking or know someone who is – get in touch. epstein.jesse@gmail.com or 917.723.2605

Hi D-Word,

I am seeking triple-threats – producer/shooter/editors – in Israel (ideally Tel Aviv), London, and Chennai, India. If not triple-threats, ideally a very strong producer/shooter who can build a team. Etsy.com is expanding its video program to include documentary and stylized shorts; I'm looking for filmmakers needing / wanting / open to projects that allow them to creatively stretch their wings.

Etsy stories average about 3 – 5 minutes in length and for the most part, bring the sellers on the site — and their objects — to life. Currently, we feature three main video series: Handmade Portraits, which profile those Etsy sellers; There's No Place Like Here, which feature the interiors of collection-filled homes; and Process, where the methods tell the story. The videos live on the etsy.com's blog.

We're shooting for high values – on the Canon 5D and 7D – but are open to other HDSLRs. Editing tends to happen in Final Cut Pro, but we've been able to work with freelancers who use other systems..

I've posted once before but am trying again – with these specific locations (others may contact me!) interested, please e-mail me yoru info. Thank you! And/or spread this around!

All best,
Beth Levison

Today's the day to submit your film to the 2011 TALKING PICTURES FESTIVAL!

We seek films that are thought-provoking, intriguing, entertaining, vibrant, authentic, artful and informative. All styles and lengths welcome. Cash awards for winning entries.

Regular deadline is TODAY: Monday, Dec 20.

This very doc-friendly fest takes place April 15 – 17 in Evanston, IL (next to Chicago) and attracts filmgoers from the entire Chicago metro-area. Venues include Northwestern University's Block Cinema, Medill School of Journalism and Evanston Public Library.

True to its name, screenings at The Talking Pictures Festival foster a lively dialogue between filmmakers and audience members and get the community involved.

"What a wonderful experience the Talking Pictures Festival was! It totally lived up to its name... The shared experience of a film, and then being able to discuss it right away with a group is so important. This was really why I made the film – as a catalyst for discussion, challenging people to ask difficult questions."
