I am a master teacher whose work in alternative education has received national recognition, a professional writer, and self-described authority on language as well as a filmmaker. I am also a former op-ed page columnist for the Seattle Post Intelligencer and commentator on KUOW-FM, the NPR affiliate in Seattle. My most recent films are “The Journey” which documents an immigrant family’s trek to America and “Walk Right In,” which recounts an extraordinary educational experiment of more than 40 years ago which bears directly on the most critical issues confronting our schools today. It stands in direct counterpoint to the better subsidized “Waiting for Superman” and “The Race to Nowhere.” Our website is at www.walkrightinthemovie.com where you can find our trailer as well as a myriad of other materials. We are also on Facebook.
